quick rundown: For those who don't know, onlive will be like the youtube of gaming--you stream games and play them as you go. i odnt know the full details but it thik it req a pc to tv hook up or somehting. anyways, it's will be the youtube of gaming.

for an undisclosed fee, you will be able to stream games and play online.

people see the prolblem with this serivce is that you only steam things, you never actually own a physical or digital copy of the game. stream only and no downlods, which makes pepele skeptical with it. people say this service will bomb, but it has gotten major funding from big companies already.

Witht that said, will you buy OnLive this fall? i probbaly won't , because even im skeptical too. i want to se how it fares first (and that im a nintendo fangirl lol but thats besides the point). i do wish it luck though.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to see what other people think before I try this out. Odds are, I might get it a while down the road after a few truck loads of improvements.

No way, this is what will kill physical distribution completely, so I'm not supporting it

Probably not - or will maybe get a subscription to play in the browser if anyone releases a nice addictive windows exclusive, never?

I won't be buying it.

First of all, i'm not really a fan of PC gaming. And beyond, that, I don't like the idea of not being able to buy any f the games on the service

Nope. I'm still hazy on the support it'll be getting, I've already got my hardware for this generation, and I don't like that part about "undisclosed fee." I really think this isn't the right time for OnLive to come out. One would think they'd time it with the end of this generation and the start of the next. Judging from the almost unanimously negative responses in this thread, the prognosis isn't good right now.

It's a cool idea, but c'mon... you're basically playing your games through youtube. You have to have one kick ass internet connection for this unless you don't mind some lag. Oh, and forget about downloading big stuff and gaming at the same time... not with this bad boy.

I was actually talking to my assissant manager today about this. he was mad excited but i don't think its going to be good.

if a system is so expensive how much would this be to stream games? i know the price isn't released yet but this seems very weird.

i think i'll just stick to my systems and just wait and see how this works out.

No thanks, at least I know that my PC, 360, PS3 and Wii won't flop. Besides, digital distribution FTL.

Its ready? Regardless I don't think I'm gonna buy it, there's not much for it that i cant already get, and i have my doubts about their ability to stream every ones games to them without any hi-cups, there gonna definitely have problems when it first goes live. But i don't really support the whole Digital Distribution thing either.

I live in Canada and iirc, it's not coming here just yet. I'll see how US will respond to the system and make my decision when/if it comes here. My main concern it latency decreased graphic quality.

Blah, I'm not even sure. It can be really good, or a big bust. I just have to wait to see how it is first.

Engadget states that "Broadband connections of 1.5 Mbps dials the image quality down to Wii levels while 4-5 Mbps pipes are required for HD resolution." The average broadband connection speed in the US at the end of 2008 was 3.9 Mbps, while 25% of US broadband connections were rated faster than 5 Mbps.Wikipedia

That certainly sounds encouraging.
