Well back in the day most RPG's (the genre I spend most of my time in) used to mostly just punish you for making the "evil" choices in the game or at least they made it much more difficult for you to complete the game. So, when I was young I mostly played as a good guy. Now that games are offering adequate goodies to both good and evil characters I find myself going the bad route almost entirely.
my main character is always as evil as possible, though ill usually try out a good character too (im currently guarding the wastelands of fallout 3 as a hitler lookalike).
I play good the first time around, then I go back and try and be mean as possible; I find it harder to be extremely mean than to be extremely nice.doomsoth
I actually find it harder to be good. I mean I'd rather beat the crap out of a man instead of making friends with him by going through the dialogue

:shock:HAHAHAHA !!! :lol:Funny-and so true! The new 'punishment' in games is for playing 'Good' instead of 'Bad' nowdays. "Going through the dialogue" also means waiting for the dam graphics to load! I usually play good and then evil. Sometimes I just feel wrong playing the evil side...I know playing DnD I have yet to play an evil character and the only time I will is in an evil campaign. Otherwise, the good guy.
Those games are great becuase they let you explore all sides and usually require multiple playthrough's to do so. I dont think anyone only chooses to play one side of the coin.

As good as I can get I'm too affraid of alienating inhabitants to be bad. Fable is though proving very tricky to be good in ...far too much temptation! But another walk through along the 'darkside' should satisfy my bad tendancies :)
I, too, usually play through the first time as a good character. As a matter of fact, I'm almost finished with the original Fable (which I decided to blast through before I started Fable II) and I'm running around with a halo on my head...

Usually, I'm too nice to do anything that borders on bad behavior and I believe that reflects on how I work IRL but if I'm feeling really (and I stress the word 'really') adventurous, I may try and cross my boundaries, mostly to see what the resulting effect would be.
I like to try it out both ways, usually its a lot easier feeling to play as the nice guy but I almost always go evil the first time through. I think cause I like the freedom and the stress relief of it all. The last thing In Fallout was kill a town and throw peoples heads in the toilets then throw grenades in there and watch the blood and gore fountain spew up mwhahaha! Its also fun to cut up the bodys and put them in compromising sexual positions, or arrange the limbs to form gigantic curse words in the center of town and then set them on fire. They also should of never made it an acheivment to put live grenades in peoples pants cause I do that to like half the people I meet.
I'm a nice guy by nature. To put it D&D terms I'm chaotic good. It's hard to be bad and stay that way. In Bioshock I honestly hesitated the first time I harvested a little sister on my second playthrough to see the bad ending.

I generally try to be good most of the time. I may do a evil thing here or there but nothing too frequently that would make me evil. I find it hard to be evil in games because I'm to busey thinking that's bad, and I know its just a game, but can there be game morals? Asked this question, Is it bad to do evil things in a video game? Part of me thinks yes because it reflects on our inner most characterstics, so that's why I find it hard to be completely evil. But honestly, I know its not bad to be evil in games, there just fictional characters.
I usually play the good path first, then the evil one in my second play-through. Any other playthroughs, I'll usually be good - except for Fallout games, strangely, where I usually insist on killing absolutely every character in every town (not sure why, but I've played them so many times that I might as well screw around).
