As someone who grew up with Ruby/Fire-red, and poured days into those games! And loved most of the DS games. I must say I'am not a fan of Pokemon X/Y, they seem way too dumb down in difficulty and freedom, plus I find that the 3d graphics kind of killed the charm of the original sprite art. Plus this new video of Omega Ruby, kind of just confirms to me that pokemon has changed.

I actually really liked Pokemon X/Y. Putting the 3D graphics aside, it felt like I was playing a classic Pokemon game (Red/Blue/Yellow). With that said, I hated Pokemon Black/White. I'm not sure if they count as "new" Pokemon games, but I see Pokemon Black/White as the worst in the series.

I like the 3D graphics and animations but all these new generations of weird-looking pokemon, innovations like the mega evolution etc have totally killed it for me. I understand they have to keep up with today's audience but personally pokemon games stopped feeling special after gen 4. I now feel absolutely no desire to try out the new games.

Black/White weren't the best but they where better than X/Y IMO, they had beautiful graphics.

All the new innovations killed it for me really, IMO the pokemon I knew and loved died after Heart gold/Soul Silver.

No.

Well X/Ys flaws come from how poorly balanced the gym battles and adventures are, as the game didnt consider the power creep that would occur with people experimenting with the new additions: stat training through the core game, heavily participating in the global trading system, spending points from generous spotpass/streetpass hits for rewards like rare candy or using those buffs that you can give to your friends. One thing I personally disliked was how slippery the roller skates felt on the 3DS analog stick, where walking using the D-Pad is just uncomfortable to use.

But the systems in X/Y are overall just better. I am free to trade what I find with a pokemon that I want from anyone around the world. I can acquire a Gengar when I want to, have all my favourite pokemon that I know and love in my belt eg. having a Charmander, a Squirtle and another Charmander. I am not too restricted with finite evolution stones in the game as I always wanted both an Espeon and Vaporeon at the same time. And It carries over some of the excellent refinements from Pokemon B/W - using its multi-use TM system that adds a whole lot more flexibility.

The change to EV/LV in X/Y is a good thing -- a statistical barrier that prevents you from competing was never a good mechanic. Personally, all that Pokemon needs to do to make it perfect for me is balance/better communicate or tweak the nature system. Hopefully without removing it completely as I do like how it adds value and distinction to a pokemon species.

I have no problem with the 3D battles. I've been a skeptic in saying that 3D is the last thing a Pokemon game needs (as I hated how the Pokemon Stadium games looked). But the Cel-Shaded models were fantastic in keeping to the animated show and overall vivid art.

I personally was never a fan of the campaign. I always just rush through it to get to the "real" meat of pokemon and that's the team building and battle system which has been improved, tweaked, and balanced a great deal in every single iteration. So in the areas that matter to me, I think Pokemon improves every time they release a new one.

From a technical/performance side they improve, but overall adventure, discovery, difficulty they seem to hold your hand alot more through out, to the point of irritation. my example would be that, remember in ruby and sapphire where you had to solve the code inorder to unlock the regi's, yeah well you'd prob never see anything that complex without holding your hand in any of the newer game, which eradicates all and any kind of mystery.

I was a skeptical about the 3D models going into X/Y, but they pulled it off extremely well. They used a cel-shaded look which retains more of a spritish appearance than straight 3D models in my opinion. My fear originally were they were going to make the 3D models more like the stadium games.

X/Y are too easy though, and the leap to 3D sacrificed exploration to an extent.

I love all Pokemon games. I think the new games are great, but nothing will ever capture the magic the first games brought to the table. The Gameboy titles were the absolute best. From a technical and gameplay standpoint, the new games are way better, but like I said it's hard to capture what the first games gave me.

nope, but I grew up with red and blue and it feels like the games have only improved.

I still love playing pokemon, but i can see where you are coming from. I never really enjoyed black and white or B+W 2.. i dont know what it was about them but i didnt really play these games that much.. but X and Y are really enjoyable. and I am looking forward to ORAS. the only issue is keeping up with all the releases and catching all the pokemon..

Yeah I liked X and Y (played Y because I think Yyvetal is awesome and Xerneas is meh). I thought the story was well done for the series and I liked how the legendary Pokemon were involved with the mythology of the region beyond the simple "x made this and Y made this: thing that we've been getting since Ruby and Sapphire. It had some cool new features too and a strong world, which are things I always like in a Pokemon game. My issue is that compared to many other games in the series, there is a severe lack of post game content to play through and beyond the Battle Areas there's no cool mini game like contests or anything like that to return to. That, and the fact that this region had so many ham damn Pokemon from previous generations almost made me feel like I was wasting my time playing those ones.

I used to own Pokemon Yellow. The difficulties of these two games are similar if I recall correctly. My first playthrough of X is not yet complete, so you would do better getting your questions answered if you ask someone else, for now.

I grew up playing Pokémon on the Gameboy and occasionally Pokémon Stadium at family get-togethers on my cousin's Nintendo 64, if I was lucky to get a turn. I'm almost 20 years old and I still enjoy watching Mewtwo Strikes Back and Spell of the Unown just as much as I did when I was 3. For me, the first 150 Pokémon were more than enough.

I couldn't get into any of them besides Red/Blue and Fire Red/Leaf Green (the remakes of the originals).

The Pokemon designs aren't nearly as endearing as the original 151, there are far too many gameplay additions that are significant time sinks (to stay competitive) and my love of the games comes purely from a nostalgic perspective. It's what I grew up on as a teenager.

The only Pokemon game I've played enough to have a solid opinion of is Emerald, but I can still answer your question with a no.

Never liked Pokemon. Always found it stupid. Same for Yu Gi Oh, Magic the Gathering and just about every other card game. I did try them, just not for me. Think it maybe an age thing though as I was pretty much an adult when Pokemon was new.

There's really not an evolution in terms of gameplay, so I will say I enjoy the 3D graphics. The pixel art was never exceptionally well-done in the Pokemon games in my opinion, so I like being able to view my little monsters in 3D.
