Okay, we all liked it three years ago - it was new, different & how cool was it to rock to 'Ace of Spades'? But now, between all the sequels and the Rock Band franchise, isn't it starting to seem like overkill? How many drum kits & guitars do you really want in your living room (or wherever you play...)? It's like 'Law & Order' or 'CSI' - when it's on every channel all the time, you know the novelty is gone....

I got sick of the first game after about a month. The newer games didn't do much for me. Like you said, the novelty just wore off.

Just because it's available doesn't mean you must indulge. I love Law and Order: Criminal Intent, but I don't watch it every time it plays on USA Network. I've played about five minutes total between Rock Band and all of the Guitar Heroes, so, no, they don't bother me.

If the market is still supporting these games (and it seems to be), then I guess people aren't getting sick of them. Are there new features in the newer Guitar Hero games? I just have GH3. I stopped playing about halfway through the campaign ("career," whatever you call it), when I got this long-as-hell Metallica song that cramped my hand. I went back to playing Unreal Tournament for hours, which does not cramp my hand. I guess you build up a tolerance for certain things.

Just because it's available doesn't mean you must indulge.

I am. It went from a large amount of sequels/spinoffs to complete milkage.

After Guitar Hero World tour I don't think I'll pick up any more of those games, When you got a drum set, guitar and microphone laying around then you know that you've reached the end. Besides I can always download custom made songs if I get bored with the ones I have.

I'm sick of western music games in general. They don't offer much challenge or room for improvement... and are centered around basically only one type of music.

I enjoy it,but I do not overdo it. And I wish they would just put out one edition and support it with DLC instead of a new edition every year. I am afraid that Activison is going to Tony Hawk the franchise to death.

Audiosurf was okay for a bit, but I only really care for about one or two modes...

A new guitar hero game has about as much creativity as a new madden game. Just add some new songs and call it a new game. Bleh..........

Well, in defense, there is quite a bit of work that goes into creating the keystroke (?) things and creating the song list. It's not just drag and drop from someone's mp3 player or something. But again, you could say that about a lot of games in a genre. FPS games, it could be argued for some, just switch out the atmosphere palatte and the guns for something different and market it.

Well in an fps game, you usually at least get new levels and a continuation of a story that you might be into; even if the gameplay remains identical.

In the same vein, new songs are put into the new music games, as well as updated customization options, and so forth. :P

The only Guitar Hero I own iis GH3, and I haven't played it in months. I still play it at a friend's house every once in a while, though.

I'm not necessarily sick of it, I just haven't had much desire to play it again.

I like using my fingers, so i play it often but theres a point where every song you play is of no difficulty to you then the only improvement is to 100% a song then it just gets teadious practising solos etc. a great sense of achievement when you do finally do it but it only lasts for about 10minutes or so then back to the grind of practising that next hard song...

Well, for IV, I think they have more avatar customization, obviously more songs, a revamped career mode, improved difficulty scales, I think. I read the article in Game Informer not that long ago, but I don't really remember it. But, stuff like that. They aren't just churning them out, I don't believe. Well, they kind of are for the Beatles and Metallica Packs. But even in them, they are working on some things. On the Metallica one, they had the band members in the motion-capture studio for the animation procedures.

But don't take my word on it too far. I don't really follow them much more than reading all the articles in my magazine.

I get sick of it after a while, but when I pick up the guitar controller after a week or two it is fun again.

Maybe I missed the boat on this entire issue, but I've never really seen the point... So, YES... If it were a real guitar, that might be different, even though I can't play atm...

I never personally played it. I've watched others do, though. Even though I like the kind of music the games use, it's get tiring listening to the -same- freaking songs all the time.

I'm not tired of GH. I own every game in the series and I'll be getting Metallica on day one.
