No, not really. I mean, my mom always curses my gaming consoles, because I might waste my time, but they never actually banned me from playing. They aren't considered against gaming, but I'm sure they would prefer if I didn't waste my money. Blah. I don't care.
*Turns on 360*
My dad has a commodore 64 before I was born, and got the nes a little bit after. If it wasnt for him, I never would have gotten into gaming. He was big into it in the early days, but work kinda got in the way for him. He enjoys Tiger Woods on the 360, Peggle, CoD and GTA: CW amongst other things on the DS. It probably helps that my uncle games, and we've been seeing more of them lately.
As for my mum, shes enjoyed stuff before. Loved a bit of Tetris and Open Tour Golf on the NES :P Think its a bit too complicated for her now, though she doesnt have any problems with me playing. Hell, they fund the "addiction" most of the time ;)
I don't know really. Sometimes they are and other times they aren't. My dad seems excited that I want to go into game design, but other times it seems that he sees it as waste of time. I guess my mom tries to be supportive of stuff like that, but she really doesn't like me playing games, unless absolutely nothing else could be being done instead.
My parents don't mind, I live on my own anyway. They know that gaming helps me with fighting my disability and that it's better than if I were a heavy drinker, smoker or doing drugs. All they ask is that I don't game too long every day and focus on other things, which I do anyway. I can't game all day even if I wanted to, I always look for other things to do.

Yeah, most parents are like that. Sure we are not suppose to play overnight, but, seriously it is up to us. I know I made a bad move overnight and I would rather accept my mistake myself rather than them blah blah blah. Because I know I am not dumb, so, I don't need them baby sitting. I know it is a hard to control addiction, but I am the one responsible to control it, not them. Luckily after I graduated from college, they finally let loose their control.magicalclickI was in the same situation as you and hopefully after I graduate from college with a Aerospace Engineering degree they wouldn't care if I game in my spare time.
My mom doesn't mind it as long as I don't stay glued to the television set with the controller in my hand but I do so she hates it.
