Arena Type RPG Games

Hey guys , I recently discovered I really enjoy arena type RPG games! I need your help to let me find a great arena type rpg game , to make more appropriate appeal for me I am looking for :

Date - It can scale from 1996 - 2010

* You can train your hero/troops.

*The whole battle takes in arenas , facing 1 - 6 enemies at a time ( can be a bigger difference)

* You can explore other areas besides arenas to acquire items , quests and so on.

* Your hero/troops apply for RPG formulaes , using for e.g. STR , DEX , perks , skills , attributes , abilities and so on

* You hero/troops can equip items/armor/swords.

*Best would be if it's mythical/magical/sci - fi/gothic/horror

*There can be rewards after each battle.

*Shops , training grounds , church , king's room or any other area where you visit and interact after arena.

Basically , I am open for all suggestions , best would be if you could give me the games name and write something about it , doesn't matter if you played it , just make sure it fits my requirements.

NOTE** From my appeal section , there can be many other things besides I named it , all I want is an arena type RPG game!

Check out Gladius. Think it's just what you're looking for.

It's PC type , oh and I played Gladius , not very exciting as it is webbased :(
