I have a short attention span, I suppose. I can't normally play a game for more than an hour and a half without becoming bored and zoning out. But I've been playing the hell out of Mass Effect lately. I'm talking 5 hour play sessions. And it made me realize I'd probably enjoy the game in smaller chunks, because I keep zoning out. Does this happen to anyone else? Funny thing is, I kept playing anyway!

So my question is, when do you know it's time to stop playing? When you just wander aimlessly around in an RPG? When you keep dying on the same part of a level over and over, without regard? When you're falling asleep with the controller in your hand?

For me, it's when I catch myself going through the motions, and not totally being into the game. Realizing I'll enjoy it more if I play it later.

Oh yeah... and if you haven't checked it out, ME definitely rocks.

Lol you must get withdrawal symptoms then, do you start to shake violently when you don't get to play games for so long? And then go into a fit afterwards?

It takes a great game for me to play for more than an hour and half and not get bored. GTA is a prime example as well as Guitar Hero and Rock Band when I get it.

This hits (besides unusual often dying) pretty much the spot.

Unless the game doesn't really draw me in from the start, then I won't have any problem playing it from beginning to end in a single session.

I used to have extremely long gaming sessions when I had the extra free time. I remember having 5+ hour sessions with The Legend of Zelda (NES), Metal Gear Solid (PS), Resident Evil (PS), and Unreal Tournament (PC). Lately though, I haven't had as much time for gaming due to work and other commitments, so I usually only play in one or two hour bursts except on weekends. Like now. Honestly, I should be using this time to game rather than post. :D
