Battlefield died when they went to consoles. Now it's "HURR DURR DLC! MUST CATER TO PEOPLE WHO SUCK! CASH IN ON CALL OF DUTY CROWD! DERP! NO MODS BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY WOULD MAKE EVERYTHING WE WANT TO CHARGE MONEY FOR FOR FREE AND DO A BETTER JOB!"

I can't agree that the looks are similar. It's obvious they are going for realism, noticable in the animations and lighting they use combined with the color palette. Nope I have a hard time seeing the similarities, even the surroundings are completely different.
What did you think it would look like, BF2 with new maps? If DICE would have gone from BF2 to BF3 without releasing the bc games, then everyone would scream bloody murder that it looked awesome.
kaealy
I know im just playing devils advocate here (and yes the cod games do look the same)
i am talking about more than just the looks it seems as the personality and feel of the game is more like bad company 2.5 rather then that essence that BF2 had. battlefield 2 felt much larger as BC2 was much more of a refined expirience with less content than BF2. BF2 felt more like a game of hide and seek you would play with your friends while BC2 felt like you were playing flight simulator
just my opionion i am sure the game is excellent however will it be more "fun" than modern warfare 3
If you're looking for something new and different, a shooter franchise is about the last place in the world you'll ever find it.

yeah if its realism they are going for then they will climax at one point or another i think Bf3 is an example of that i mean the graphics are photo realistic and the gunplay is just as real so in terms of making it more realistic then yes there will be a lack of variety.
but i think the game is truly bad company 3 due to its overall feel however that is only from the looks if it adds as much content as the cod series then it will be a battlefield game rather than a bad company game.
but yes shooters are getting stale if relaism is the goal

The point is to have fun like all games, go play Arma II if you want realism.I think it looks different enough. I want it because it looks like I won't hate the main characters in it. Plus, the BC2 servers don't let me play online for ps3 anymore so I'm hoping BF3 can solve that problem for me. I just hope there aren't any indoor only online maps, as that will be nothing short of horrible.
[QUOTE="blueboxdoctor"]Not in Battlefield, don't worry. I don't think there have ever been indoor maps in the series. That would totally destroy the point of these games.I just hope there aren't any indoor only online maps,

I know, but one of the trailers for mp seemed to be in some type of inside environment, now I'm assuming there's an outside part to go with that, but it just seemed odd to show any indoor action with the scale of the game's mp.
New charatcer models, new animation system, new lighting, new audio, neweverything since its a newer engine but yeah your right it looks exactly the same.
Your opinion is dumb...

You mean the metro tunnel? That's just one rush-section of Operation Metro, the rest is on the surface of Paris. Know the park from the trailers, where a light tank is rolling between some trees? That is the same map.Hard to say that since the full game isn't out yet, the interface looks the same, but it's hard to say that when the game isn't out yet and none of us (besides people from the game industry) have played it.Bf3 looks exactaly like bad company two with an updated graphics engine

From what I've seen, it looks fine anyways. Hard to complain here, with it looking this good. I'm more concerned about how the gameplay will turn out.
The multiplayer does not look "exactly" the same. I played in the Alpha Trial and I could tell you that there are noticeable differences.. especially with the maps and gameplay. I will take an easy guess and say that you didn't play in the Alpha Trial, unless you're really lying. It barely feels like BC2, although the graphics may remind you of BC2, somewhat.Elann2008
yeah i think it is the the graphics (i didnt play the trial)
i think if the game is going to lay seige to call of duty then it needs to use battlefield 2 as its base rather than bad company 2
as BC2 is too linear and is a mmuch more focused game than the do what you want BF2
it needs to have huge maps lots of vehicles and needs to look grittier.
too me it seems like Bad comapny 3 and not battlefield 3 i fear it may head in that direction too far and will loose the spark that made Bf2 one of the best shooters to date they have all they keys to succes here i think they are using bad company as the base and building on that which i think will not allow them to be as succesful
as you probably realise i did not like BC2 at all however i like BF2 (i think BC2 has an identity crisis)
i would love to see BF3 destroy COD but i think they are taking it down the wrong road
i am not one who is attracted to graphics alone and yes BF3 looks awsome but thats not what we're talking about
