Tough call So many games have good areas, but they often have bad areas as well. For example, the bad guy might duck behind a barrel to avoid getting shot, but it will be a red exploding barrel.
Several people like to mention STALKER and STALKER:CS. They are pretty good when compared to other games. Each AI member follows the exact same pattern every time making it very easy to exploit the AI.
Yeah. I think I'm gonna go buy FEAR again. I've been playing some of these new shooters and AI always is written on the box as "improved", but it always seems to be taking a step backwards
Got to agree with you guy, FEAR IMO has the best AI. Have clocked Crysis, Far Cry etc on highest difficulties and I've got to say FEAR still beats im. All they need to do is add a little "Cry Engine" styles I will be impressed if FEAR 2: Project Origin's enemy AI can:
1) Run and seek help from the bunch "just down the road"
2)Lets say 2 of the 10 enemy actually hides and stalks you instead of doing something smart like ducking behind cover then ruin it by charging across the open to meet your bullets headfirst.
This would put the pressure on you to a) Kill the "cryers" before they alert the calvary and b) Make sure you've accounted for all dead and if short, hunt the remaining f.....ers down before they ambush you. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. "Where did he go!!" anyone?.....
Well at the time of release I think that RE4 was very good (but now they're really predictable...). And the worst I've seen yet are the bots in Half-Life servers...
