For those who play anime based games. What was your favorite? and why?

For me, It would be the game I just beat today. "Naruto the broken bond" for X-box 360. I like it because it does such a great job telling that part of the story without skipping over anything important or rushing things too much. It did rush some things near the end though, but nothing too major. This alone is very surprising and something very few anime games succeed in doing.I also think gameplay is one of the best of any naruto game. Also feels more narutoish then other Naruto fighters to me. I also think the graphics are among the prettiest i've seen. This game is justamazing.

Runner ups would be Dragon ball origins for DS and the Naruto "Path of the ninja" games for DS.

Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi (PS2) was really fun. I just wish there was online when I had a copy. Split-screen was kinda bugging my opponent. Raging blast for the PS3 and 360 is fun, but Tenkaichi has this "weight." Raging Blast has destructible landscapes and good gameplay. The online has a lot of customized fighters compared to the standard choices. Maybe I should check out RB more when I get the chance.

Chou-jikuu Yousai Macross is definitely one of my favorites and it's a real damn shame they didn't bring it to the U.S.

After that Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex is a game that was very hard to put down.

The best one I've played is Bleach: Dark Souls for the DS. Solid fighting game by developer Treasure. DBZ Budokai 3 is also decent.

Zone of the Enders 1 and 2 were seriously underrated - and practically unknown... They're worth buying if you can find them. Hideo Kojima wsa behind both of them btw.

Astro Boy: Omega Factor on the GBA was awesome. It even had an interesting in-game encyclopedia of Tezuka's other characters.

Those were anime-based? I notice similarities with Gundam, but...I thought the animes were game-based.

Yep they were anime based. It's even less known than the game:

ZOE 2167

No dubs though...

Pretty sure the anime is based on the game as in it was released after the games.

Yay another Broken Bond fan lol. I've noticed a lot people complaining about that game. Saying the graphics suck and the mini games for the Justu's suck. Those are among my favorite things about the game.

Those mini games, IMO, Make it much more fun for both the attacker and defender, one common problem in both DBZ games and Naruto games, Is when I get attacked by a super move, I just have to wait watch the repetitive scene, maybe just rotate the control stick like crazy, but that's not that fun. It's never a big problem, games are still very fun, I just like the way Broken bond does it better.

And the top 3 prettiest games IMO, (in no particular order) are: Naruto the broken Bond, Newest Prince of Persia game, And DBZ Burst Limit.

I haven't played Narutomuch Ultimate Ninja storm, butI've played the demo a while ago, Can't remember if that looks better then Broken Bond or not, most people seem to say that though.

I have played many anime based games, but never a good one. I want to say Lupin on the PS2, but even that was kinda bad. Maybe the DBZ fighters by atari.

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm for the PS3, Bandai Namco does a great job with their Naruto games. Ultimate Ninja Storm is the closest a game based on an anime has ever gotten to looking like the anime it's based on.

There's also Tales of the Abyss, but the game came before the anime. But it's still one of the best games of all time.

I would say Afro Samurai, or Astro Boy for the GBA. Both games were pretty awesome.

Meh, Broken Bond and RoaN kinda have crappy single player games imo and the fighting game side for both have a lot of potential combined with game breaking balancing issues that mess it all up. Broken Bond disappoints the most because it's sooooooo close to being a really good fighter and it fixed a lot of messed up things about the first, but the things that are broken are game breakers. Plus you have to unlock characters for the fighting mode by playing the single player mode... which is way longer than RoaN and still crappy. I'm still waiting for someone to nail Naruto in a way that's not 100% fighter. The show is about kid ninjas who go on assassination missions and risk their lives in extreme ways on a regular basis. For some reasons, the games feel that having you search for 20 mushrooms, chocolate bars or bags of potato chips in the forest captures what makes the show great. I like the Naruto fighters on the Wii/Gamecube

Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3 was a pretty good anime-based game.

You've got it backwards. VC is the case of an anime based on a game.

Yeah!! I had soo much fun playing it! I know exactly what you mean though (about others not liking it) :s Hmm. As long as it's something that I've really enjoyed playing, I couldn't care what anyone else thinks about it! Haha :p

Yup yup! I liked the mini-games in the battle sequences too. Seems like it takes more 'skill' then hitting 'A' over and over again like in some of the BDZ games :p Online was super fun too :] (when I wasn't lagging, haha).

And I thought it stuck to the story well too, which made it so much more fun to play! (:
