XBOX 360!!!! Its got the greatest FPSs of all time! Not to mention top-of-the-line online gaming and insane graphics! I don't see how graphics in video games can get any better, unless they look like real life. Yep, 360s the winner, but thats just MY opinion.
Legacy platform wise I think the playstation 2 is the greatest because of the amount of games it had. The system had some of the best games out there. RPG's are the most notable for some. FPS's werent famous the ps2 however. I loved my ps2 and i still continue to buy games for it even though i own a ps3 and 360.
The 360 is the second best but the PS2 is a legend have you seen they still make games for PS2 like SVR 2009 or Fifa 09 but with consoles like the Xbox or GBA they don't make games for them. They console is legend I don't care what consoles I get next but I will always keep my PS2!!!:D
PS2 is, way to many amazing games. It actually has the most impressive library in history and with Sony announcing 130 more titles for it at E3 it is still going strong.
This is coming from nostalgia, but my favorite old systems are the NES and the N64. I like the PS2 and the 360, but you can't compare the new and the old.

PS2 no competition. For the number of quality games in any genre you want. This thing was a beast. I bought almost a year after launch. It busted on me but the games were so good I actually bought it again...the slimline for $150. I'll be damned if it wasn't the best gaming purchase I've ever made.
PS2. PS1 backwards compatability is a big part of it.
