you should go with the 32x... cause there are only like 36 games that made it stateside and almost all of them can be had for under $5, the one's that can't however are quit pricey, and most of them suck... but when you get through you will have a COMPLETE game catalogue... nahhhh... i'd go with snes also.
Why had no said ths? The Atari 2600. It's easy to find, relativly cheap, the price varies depending on the unit and with your system you ussally get a bunch of games and accesories with it. And if you want anything else, the games are cheap and you can easily get big lots of them, like 10 games for 10 bucks. Also the hardware is not prone to problems due to age. So if you just want to collect, then get an Atari 2600. If not I would get a SNES also, because it's alot more durable then the NES and has many more classics, however the good games can cost up to 20 dollars, and the highly sought after games like Final Fantasy 3 can go for 40-80

I was trying to imply avoid on-line shopping, and go outside (that place gamers seem to be allergic to, that thing with the air and the sun) and actually quest the hard way for things. I honestly enjoy finding my rare finds more then playing them... speaking of , know anyone that would want to buy an Atari Mega 4 computer?

I would because you can ussally get better deals at places like pawn shops and goodwill, however dedicated old game stores are ussally more expensive. For that atari computer, I don't really know anything about old computers except the basics, put it on craigslist, and if you can ship it then put it on ebay. Go to atari2600.com cause they have a ton of old games and systems from NES and back, they also sell lots of memorabile and can repair 2600's

i've got a few of them... i can't say that i really like any of them other than nba jam t.e. but, aside from the virtual boy, the 32x has the fewest games in a catalogue of any console system i know of... i don't guess that's fact, but just based on my knowledge. as for shelligout the equivalent of around $650 for kolibri... ouch... no thanks... but, i've seen iit go on ebay - complete - for like $35.
Anything from the 16-bit era. Since those consoles had tons of games that were only released in Japan that were never released in Europe/America.
Back then hardcore meant learning Japanese to play an imported RPG or kicking butt in Neo-geo fighting games/SF/MK. Nowadays it's playing the same FPS over and over again and talking smack.
My votes would have to go for SNES, N64, or PS1. SNES is good cause it has A LOT of great games like Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, MegaMan, Zelda ALTTP, and sooooooo much more. N64 because it introduced so many great classics for the first time ever in the 3rd dimension like Zelda OoT, (personally my favorite game of all time) Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Goldeneye 007, and alot more. And last but not least, the PS1 because it had so many great RPGs on it like Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Cross, Parisite Eve, and other types of games like like Metal Gear Solid and Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot. But seriously, PS1 was the console for RPGs, and I'm sure many people would agree. I would collect for all 3 of these if I were you!
SNES would be great to collect for. I am collecting Gamecube Games right now, I had it since launch but because the Wii can play gamecube games and most games are very cheap these days and easy to find.
id have to say the SNES and the n64 they have a great number of classics and expect to pay some serious cash for great games usualy going from 20-80 bucks a cart
The Playstation is the best console to still buy games to rebuild your game library. you can still buy old PSOne games from pawn shops since they're pretty cheap at reasonable prices from 6 to 15 bucks which isnt too bad
