Best Devil May Cry game in your opinion?

Original DMC3 I guess.... Although SE is pretty much the same thing and has it's pluses.

Just that in the original you don't have to deal with that Clown Boss Fight which I found more obtrusive than challenging.

As for the change in the Save System for SE, they gave you a choice, so no real con there and the difficulty stagger doesn't really matter either. All SE did was add a super easy mode to the game. the added Tower gameplay and being able to play as Vergil makes SE more appealing, though. But not modding the storyline for Vigil seemed like a copout to me.

DMC3 for the content, DMC4 for the on-the-fly style switching and nero.

DMC 4 but I voted for the reboot.

Tough call between DMC3 SE and DMC4 for me. DMC4 was an excellent game and Nero was a great addition to the franchise but I'll give the edge to DMC3 SE.

It had the most interesting story. DMC 1, 2, 3, and 4 all had crap stories.

Tough one. I'd say either DMC3 or 4. DMC3 because you can switch fighting styles and 4 because of Nero's Devil Bringer and being able to change fighting styles at any moment when playing as Dante. The combat was just as good as DMC3 as well. I'd have to say DMC4 takes the cake for me.

The DMC reboot was great the first playthrough but after trying it for a 2nd playthrough, I realized how much I actually dislike it even though it was the most smooth fighting in the entire franchise.

I voted DMC3:SE it was really great and DMC4 was also good too. People can like or hate the reboot, but it didn't have what made DMC special among its fans (and it's not the white hair lol)

I consider DMC3 the best overall, it has a "once a decade" game feel too it. Not very often do so many elements come together so completely well. It simply is the greatest action game ever made, it was when it launched, and remains so to this day. (Bayonetta was dragged down by it's two *ahem* "bonus Stages") DMC4 was ok, but it was missing something intangible, and the level design just sucked. DmC is stellar as well, I put it just a notch below DMC3. The gameplay is excellent, and the story and characters are better fleshed out than ever before thanks to the talents of Ninja Theory.

The fourth installment was good, but had flaws to it, and the Reboot tried to hard at having a decent story and under delivered to what I expected. Not to mention the combat was streamlined for any gamer to learn. Not so much a bad thing if it didn't hamper on advance combat too much. Also Dante in the reboot was not very likeable to me.

I have heard that DMC is currently going through what Prince Of Persia is going through. They released a reboot and disliked the outcome and are now thinking of continuing the original franchise with DMC5 in 2015. I have no idea if that is true though, I've only read it through 3rd party articles and shit but haven't seen an official statement from Capcom nor have I heard from Ninja Theory confirming that they won't be involved in the next DMC.

DMC 3 for me. Although DMC 1 was bad ass and actually made my jaw drop. But DMC 3 was special because , for me, DMC 2 was crap and DMC3 had near perfect combo of challenge and style. Hah, the good ol days of PS2

They made Vergil straight-up evil instead of ambiguously so which effectively ruined his whole character, and Dante isn't even half human and yet he acts like an adolescent American.

The latest one because the old Dante looked like a prick and reminds me of some sort of tribute band member.

I used to think DMC4 was the best, but after playing the reboot on PS+ I've changed my mind. So I voted DmC, it's a solid game.

Virgil was a far better and more interesting character in the reboot than in DMC3!

Despite how I feel about the reboot, this is true. Virgil was a better character in the reboot than DMC3. That's not to say that Virgil was a bad character in DMC3 though, his character development was also a lot better in the reboot than on 3. However, I really hated the Virgil's Downfall DLC. Traveling around Limbo for both the main game and VD was insanely boring.

Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition is the best DMC game. The others have their merits, though.

No even a question. The Original Devil May Cry is by far the best. Still for my money the most fluid and satisfying hack n' slash.

would have to say DMC3 special edition. then again, the only ones that Ive played are the vanilla 3, SE and 4.

The first one, I still love the first time the puppets attack you.

1 or 3. The first was was really memorable since it was the first game in the series, but I really enjoyed the 3rd one too. It was an added bonus to Gameshark and play the "Coop" with my brother.

Tough to choose between DMC3:SE and the reboot! Both are awesome.

DMC 3 Special Edition because of the challenge. I thought DMC reboot was going to be crap but the combat is actually pretty fun. The story is laughable but that's not what you play DMC games for. PS Plus rocks.

3 is my favourite, followed by 4. 1 was decent, but 2 and the reboot were both awful. Couldn't bring myself to play more than the first couple of missions of the reboot.
