Which game/games do you think has the best dialogue ever, whether its funny, dramatic or just downright oscar worthy? Also in creating the gamesatmosphere and tie a compelling narrative together!

Grand Theft Auto 4 has a great script, coupled with excellent voice acting.

Saints Row 2 had some good dialogue for videogame. Even the voice acting wasn't bad.

The Legacy Of Kain series has really superb narrative. You'll find a goldmine of Shakespearean-esque quotes and wonderful acting in that game.

There is some serious lack of Max Payne in this thread. "Fraternizing with the enemy. I had stepped over the edge. The cartoon moment when the gravity waits for the coyote to realize his mistake before the plunge." "The bullet holes were rubies on her chest, blood glowing on her ivory skin. She was so beautiful. The killer was smiling." "All this time we got the fable of sleeping beauty wrong. The prince doesn't kiss her to wake her up. No one who has slept for a hundred years is likely to wake up. It was the other way around. He kisses her to wake himself up, from the nightmare that has brought him there." "I was compelled to give his gun back, one bullet at a time." "You'd find that Lady Luck was really a hooker, and you were fresh out of cash." "The sun went down with practiced bravado. Twilight crawled across the sky, laden with foreboding."

I will tell you the setting and the clip, and those of us mlg enough to have been paying attention remembers the sheer awe and power of this scene

( Massive huge bassoon or heavy horn humming a low power chord, in a scientific complex, amidst an assault)

Antagonist- " YOU ARE NOT SAREN.."

Protagonist (thinking oh snap!)

You know that game has the best dialogue ever.

Aye. I can't think of another game where you can just randomly strike up deep philosophical arguments with nameless passerbys in the streets. Extremely well written, clever, deep, dark, funny, emotional...eh, Torment just had the best dialogue.

what the man said ^

I love how the dialogue can be both funny and quite spiritual.

" Come to think of it, the world is like this soda, once the bubbles are gone i ain't got no use for it anymore".

I really liked Psychonaut's dialouge. All I can remeber is when Raz is about to jump out of the plane and that kid starts rambling about his dog, that just made me burst in laughter.
