I think the best fighting game on the Ps2 is the SOUL CALIBUR 3, it's easy to play, very addictive. Though Tekken 5 get a very high score, but imo it is not as good as Soul calibur
I suggest taking note of all that was mentioned and look or get to try them. I'd suggest one but it might not meet your fancy.
Tekken Tag Tournament by a close margin. There are lots of great fighting games on the PS2.flowersjf
Agreed its still one of the best fighting games to date.
There are a few great ones for the PS2. Street Fighter Anniversary is a great one (a compialation of all the versions of SFII is awesome.) Mortal Kombat Deception is great one. And don't forget the Tekken series.
It's jsut a shame Marvel vs. Capcom is so expensive :(
One of my favorites is "Fight Night". The first, original one, not round 2 or 3 - I can't comment on those - but I HAVE spent a tremendous amount of time on the first game and I think it's one of the most skill-oriented fighters in a host of other good titles for the system like "Soul Calibur", which I also like a lot. But "Fight Night" felt different than other fighters, in that you had to pace yourself and pick your shots. Button mashing got you nowhere fast. "Marvel vs. Capcom" is over-rated when it comes to fighters, there are more than a few gamesI would choose to play over that one, simply in terms of fun-factor... when more than $100 enters into it, then... well...
... Gimme a copy of "Soul-Cali" ANY time against that sort of fan-trumped-up pricing...
I'd say Tekken Tag and Tekken 5 are the best but avoid Tekken 4 I thought it was the worst in the series. Soulcalibur II is worth checking out.
Soul Calibur 3 has to be one of the best fighting games ever. Spent so much time on it.
And almost forgot to mention DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Its so good you dont even have to like the series to like this game.

I have see this game for as low as $15 on Ebay. Ever since they released the HD version on PSN and Live, the value of this game has gone down significantly.
It is a 3 way tie between Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution, Tekken Tag and Tekken 5. I am sure you can find all three super, super cheap, so why no try them all!
