I'm going with Super Street Fighter IV, because it's just epic. Once Marvel vs Capcom 3 comes out, though, it's going to own all of the others combined.jalexbrownit's really THAT good? what about Tekken 6?

I've not played Tekken 6, but Tekken as a series has pretty consistently beaten out Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive in my book. I guess technically I could suggest Marvel vs Capcom 2 right now if you can get it on Xbox Live Arcade - and if you can do so, I definitely would. Marvel vs Capcom 2 has been the only fighting game I've played in my life worth the launch price (back on the Dreamcast when it $50).
DOA4 gets crushed out hard by any other game on that list. From there, I'd say VF5 tops the list, followed by S4, then SCIV.which is the best fighting game on Xbox 360?

VF5 isn't for everybody. I'd say SSFIV because it's more accessible for new beginners. And graphically, VF5 feels dated now. ASK_StoryWell, the thread was about quality rather than mass appeal, so that was the approach I took.

Just because I think VF5's graphics don't look as good as some of the latest fighting game doesn't mean that it has less quality. But I am right about VF5 not being for everybody. And nothing wrong with mass appeal as long as the game is good, which Super SFIV is.

Not by a mile. I wasn't criticizing mass appeal, I was just saying that it is not synonymous with quality. Going by the criteria of what specifically makes a great fighting game, Virtua Fighter 5 tops this list.

They put too much focus on the terrible scenario mode, and playing through it is the only way you can get to see the character's endings.
If they'd just left scenario mode out, it would have been a great game.

Probably it has the deepest fighting mechanics among 3D fighters. But it's tough and hard for average joes like me to get into. That's all I'm saying when I meant it's not for everyone. You can't button mash like some of the other 3D fighters. But graphically, it doesn't look as good as the other 3D fighters. It may have better fighting mechanics, but just not as pretty. And Super SFIV is still a 2D game, right? So that's why I see it as a 2D fighter and not really comparable to VF5. But fun factor and preference can be compared, which is why I think Super SFIV is my favorite one. Heck, I like DOA 4 more than Tekken 6 or VF5, but obviously as a fighting game, it's not as deep. But it sure is more fun...well, at least for me.
I'm with you on that one, I did love me some DOA4 . Its online system was way ahead of its time.
