Sayhere what you think the best top 3 game of all time are, regardless of platform or age. And wright a small comentary why do you think it's the best.

3. Mortal Kombat 4 -PC(1997)

Surprised? Probably. What I think made MK4 so greatis it's adictive nature and general appeal. Evean greater is the fact that this fighting game was on the PC, a platform not made for fighting games. But a competitive multyplayer mode and more gore than in a Tarantino movie makes this one hit FLAWLESS VICTORY in my book.

2. Metal Gear Solid-PC(2000)

Thow it's more well known for the impact it had on the Playstation, the PC port was equally as good if not better in some techincal ways than it's console brother.MGS basiclly invented the stealth genre that many producers use as their money maker. Anadult, greedy, emotional and confusing story that lasts HALF of the gaming expirience emersed you in a world you wouldn't even dream of. I never played MGS2 on the PC but Lord knows I want to was sadlly the last adventure of Solid Snake on the PC, but the fact that MGS4 has been delaied allready for 2008 and the fact thatmost games that get dellayed get ported cupled with groing fan pressure lead to hope of a multiplatform MGS4.Hope Snake hope....

1. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas-PC(2005)

Ever since the top-down PC car-jacking simulation hit PS2s and PCs in 2001 with glorious 3D it created almost a sub-genre of gaming.Yes ever since GTA III revolutionized gaming it spawn tons of imitators that come and go. The GTA III formula was surpased only with GTA Vice City that gave the series a sence of style hard to match. But withoout a doubt the definitive free-roaming expirience is GTA San Andreas. Notoriows for extreme violence, adult subject matter and more controverssy than the DaVinci Code, GTA mannaged to do what few game realised; to lett you do whatever you want and reminded us why we love video-games; for sheer FUN.

2. Half life 1

1. Timesplitters 2

- Providing you have friends to play this with it cannot be beaten. Since the day of release until today this has been my number one multiplayer game andthe bestof all time. Shame about timesplitters 3...

1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

The game to end all games. From the moment I hopped on that bike, I knew this was going to be an experience unlike any other. R* exceeded all expectations, and I expect nothing less from them when IV drops this October.

2. Half-Life 2

The pinnacle of technical and storytelling brilliance in gaming. It just doesn't get any better than this.

3. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Stunning. Beautiful. Dare I say "Cute"? This epic adventure will never age.

3) Mortal Kombat II - Fun, violent, addictive, challenging, plus a decent amount of characters. This game may have eaten up more of my pre-high school life than any other game out there. Except maybe

2) Doom II: Hell On Earth- I never got to play the first Doom until recently, so this one sticks with me the most. 32 levels of mayhem and shooting and demons, everything a growing boy needs. I still play this game to this day, and I think there is yet a shooter to equal it.

1) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time- This is a game that I wish I could resist playing for twenty years just so I could go back to it and get that feeling in my gut again. The first time I played this, I remember the euphoric feeling I got. Great story, side quests, puzzles, characters, and everything else worth mentioning, I feel this is my ideal game. I have yet to play all of the way through Twilight Princess on account of not owning it, but I got the same feeling playing that. Still, this game will forever be in my "Often imitated, never duplicated" category.

Honorable mentions: Rome: Total War, Final Fantasy VII, Mario 64, and Elder Scroll IV

And the most original thread award goes to... someone else. Eh, I'll bite.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2. Final Fantasy VII
3. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty

Possible games I've yet to play that could disrupt the list: Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI.

3: Mario Kart DS

To me this game is amazing. The first DS i recieved and i still love it the most. I hope they come out with a new version with even more levels.

2: Castlevania SOTN.

This game made me fall in love with the castlevania series. Not only does this game having amazing 2d graphics, the length of the game and the challenge was just amazing. I love this game.

1: Metal Gear Solid (ps)

This will forever be my favorite game. I dont really play it anymore, but i love it. The story is amazing, gameplay is fun. I wish the game was longer and i kinda wish they remade it for playstation 2 also. But this game changed my gaming experience forever!

3. Goldeneye

The game that started it all for me, probobly one of the first games I played. Still has a cult following and will never age. Goldeneye is the meaning of perfection in a shooter. I loved it from the first minute.

2. Battlefield Series

I love Battlefield and it's just such an amazing idea. The maps are so open ended and there is so much to do and so many ways to do it. It's a game thats hard to get tired of because I can always find new things.

1. Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Wow, this game is just amazing, I play it on PC and it's replay value is immense especially with the addon of a multiplayer mod. I knew from the first minute this game was amazing, I bought it the day it came out and it surpassed all my expectations. An amazing experience, cinematically and in gameplay. Best game of all time in my opinion.

1. X-Com

Greatest turn-based strategy game of all-time. The pure suspense of not knowing when an alien would suddenly appear (and if you had enough points left to shoot back) was awesome.

2. Doom

This is a game that not only had me hooked and helped me learn the ins and outs of PC tweaking, but also a game that got many non-gamer friends interested in video games (was still considered kid stuff and nerdy then).

3. Ultima VII: The Black Gate

This is my off-the-beaten-path choice. Game featured a bloody story, open-ended gameplay, and moral decisions that effected gameplay. To this day I still have flashbacks of Iolo saying "is that virtuous?"

Honorable Mentions: Bomberman, Street Fighter, Half-Life, Chronicles of Riddick, Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Timesplitters, Command & Conquer, Deus Ex, GTA III, Morrowind, Oblivion, list goes on and on and on...

YES, I am olde.

3. God of War (PS2)

It's just flat out awesome. Kratos is so cool. The game has a perfect combination of combat, platforming, and puzzles. Everyone with a PS2 needs to own this. If they don't they are missing out on an amazing game.

2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2)

I've never been more into a game then when I played this. The story was great and I made me want to finish the game as soon as I could just so I could know the ending. Hideo Kojima is a genius and while many consider this the weakest game in the Metal Gear Solid series, I consider it to be the best game Kojima has ever developed.

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)

This is no question the best game ever made. I got it one Christmas and played it non stop until I completed it. I finished every side quest and unlocked every item. This is one game I could not put down. Some newer gamers don't appreciate how great this game is because it's not the most graphically advanced game now days but anyone that doesn't mind playing an older game needs to play this.

1. gears of war

totallytook my breath away the first time i played it and it still does today. the most perfect combination of graphics and gameplay. one of the things that i loved the most is how they embeded the cover system in the game even though kill.switch came up with it.

2. re4

amazing game that had the best graphics of the last gen consoles. had the best gameplay on any shooter of that generation. invented and came up with my favorite perspective, the over the shoulder view.

3. tales of symphonia

in my opinion the bestrpg i have ever played. very underrated. awsome cell-shaded graphics. gameplay was amazing. also a very long game that lasted around 70 hours.

I'd have to say Big Rigs: Over the road racing. That game put a whole new meaning to the phrase " You Are Winner!".

Wow, these threads come up every once in a while, and I have to tell you, they keep getting crazier and crazier. At first, everyone used to pick Zelda: OOT or Final Fantasy VII, or some classic SNES game. But I guess that as the years pass, more and more people have never played those games. That's the problem with the video game industry, games become "classics" after five years because you can't run into them anymore. Man...I think more than one person even said Warcraft III?:o Sorry, that's a fun game, but it's a terrible strategy game. No skill involved.

I'm tired of making a list, so I'll just name some favorites off of the top of my head, note that some of these would be in my top ten, others in my top fifty: Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Ogre Battle 64, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Animal Crossing, Ninja Gaiden

And look, off of the top of my head, three out of five of those were games released last gen. Whatever disease you guys have, I think I'm starting to catch it...

I really hate to rain on your verbal parade here, but MGS wasn't that influential when it came to the stealth genre. Thief: The Dark Project is the game where you use shadowsand avoid making noise and all that stuff, the things thatmost stealth games use besides MGS. MGS sure is fun, but it is more like an abstract puzzle game than stealth at times.

Umm... Well, since I derailed the thread there... My favorite game ever is Yoshi's Island on the Super Nintendo!

2. Street Fighter 2 Turbo (Arcade)

1. Wasteland (C64) or Ultima IV (C64)
