Radiant Silvergun.Panzer_ZweiSeveral years ago, you would've said Baldur's Gate II instead. Why the switch?
I don't believe that one person can pick the true best game of all time cause t depends on personal taste. Also i doubt there is any possible way for one person to play all of the possible candidates whichs spans across every console and probably totals up to thousands. But for me I can't decide cause I've played so many good gamesVideogamefan123I understand the feeling myself, but I'm going to have to choose a game at some point, hard as the choice may be. And in my case, I picked Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters. (Deus Ex and System Shock 2 aren't far behind, though; why hasn't anyone mentioned either game yet?)
[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"]Radiant Silvergun.NamelessPlayerSeveral years ago, you would've said Baldur's Gate II instead. Why the switch? Baldur's Gate II is a great game, however I can only get myself to play it once every few years. Since 1: I have to feel like it since I know and have done every single possible there is to do, several times. and 2: it'd at least a month of playing time if I really get into it.
Radiant Silvergun on the other hand is a game I can play any day and always get a blast. I just turn on my Saturn and finish the game in 10 minutes and I never get bored of it.
just to add pepper to discussion i name few other games, resident evil remake (gc exclusive), shadow of the colossus
it's definitely not the greatest game but i'll always have a special place in my heart for Streets of Rage 2 for the Genesismonkeyman10989
Me and you both, i can play that game today and still love it, great times.
I have a hard time with this one. If we're talking about the NES/SNES/Genesis days I don't think I could pick just one. There were just so many great titles (and some truly horrible ones :))
NiGHTS: Into Dreams
sublime pick up and play delight thats still a blast to play now... shame about that shoddy Wii sequal.
that's if i had to pick one.
luckily I don't because i could quite happily have Panzer Dragoon Saga (almost the perfect game)
and Streets of rage 2 because, I STILL play this game and find it blisteringly good fun.
call me a sega fanboy if you like, but these games are beyond most in terms of quality and playabilty.
Guwange (haven't played Radiant Silvergun yet so I can't tell if that is the better shmup)followed byYakuza andPokémon

Doom

Very much agreed. Nothing will ever beat the Doom games!
not even call of duty modern warfare 2?
I was just playing Mario 64 about 2 hours ago. It very well may be the most finely crafted game in "modern" video games.
What is the "Dark Knight" of games supposed to mean?

A game that is widely overrated but incredibly popular, I'd guess.
;)
People can say Zelda OoT, Metal Gear Solid, Doom, Super Mario Bros. 3, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (10.0 on gamespot), Halo, Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 4, etc. Those are all games that defined or revolutionized their particular genre's at the time of release.
The fact is everyone has different tastes - in which case my top 5 games include none of the above - so there is no answer for a "Best of all time" yet the answer is also "insert your favorite game name here" - any game can be the best to any person. Then it also comes down to the "best" on any given game system (pinball, arcade, handheld anc consoles all included). My particular "best game of all time" for a console is Twisted Metal 2 on Sony PlayStation.
My favourite is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2.
As for the best... well i know it's a cliche but everyone has their opinions blah blah but Ocarina of Time definitely makes a very good case, as a lot of games are claimed to be the best for their influence onfuture games, where as with OoT, it's mainly that it's just an incredible game.
Don't get me wrong, I think Mario 64, Halo CE, GTA III etc. are all great games, but in my opinion anyway, the games that they have influenced, some of them anyway, have surpassed the quality of these games.
