What genre is the best one your opinion?

in my opinion it's the RPG (WRPG to be more exact) followed by the strategy genreohthemanatee
I'm with him on RPGs, especially the Western ones, just like him. But I don't do strategy games. Too slow moving for me. The next for me would be action/adventure games.
[QUOTE="DiminixZor"]If you mean games like Zelda, they are RPG's too.M3tr4nk0
What? No, no, Zelda games are not RPG's! The only RPG in the series was Zelda II, but every other one is action-adventure. RPGs have skills, experience points, attributes, levels and all that.
Well I know Zelda is officialy a Action Adventure. But Rpg don't have to be like that It can be about experiencing a fantasy world and people in the world and have to talk to people in the world to get clues about your journey. In many Rpg's you have to make many decisions and stand for the consequences for that choice. Well I know that Zelda isn't like that, but I think It has at least a foot in it. But that's just my opinion. :)Rpgs are great, but what makes the console imo is the platformers which is why I enjoyed the SNES and PS1 so much...And this generation has failed in terms of really fun platforming games.
RPGs would probably be second with FPS games 3rd
EDIT: since this is an old post I need to clarify some things...1. My Favorite Genre now is Racing I can't get enough of it! and 2. RPGs really have fallen off the map for me.
i like a mix of fps and rpg (like Fallout3) the best. Borderlands, Fallout3, and Mass Effect are great games. Next I like simulation flying or driving next. Forza, Ace Combat, etc
I like a good platformer, but I think Puzzlers are the best genre. They're the most timeless, I think.
I'm inclined to say RPGs =D I can get into just about every genre though. I like the diversity of a good RPG. It's not always go go go go go jump jump attack go go jump aw crap I'm dead lol. RPGs have your fighting/action, solve some puzzles, go take a break and talk to people in town, upgrade your gear, advance the plot.
