What are the best local multiplayer games for the legacy consoles? I'm looking for some 4 player games to play with friends and 360 really doesn't have many 4 player splitscreen games (besides Halo 3 and Perfect Dark XBLA). Also, games I've already played: Mario Kart, Goldeneye 64, Champions of Norath

Well, Bomberman usually seems to be a good choice for simple, fun local multiplayer.

Lets not forget Time Splitters 2 .... perhaps the BEST local FPS out there for consoles ....... that game goes above and beyond win especially in customizations and game modes... lets not forget a map maker as well.

Super Smash Bros (N64) - I feel that each sequel loses a little bit of depth. 64 version is the best, imo.

Wave Race Blue Storm - the game isn't as good as the original, but the multiplayer is better.

wrbs

Off Road (snes) - this one was always a favorite I think people forget about.

or

Blast Chamber - another one that is somehow forgotten

Most "Vehicular-Combat", FIghting, Racing and/or Sports games work great for multiplayer but here are some of my favorites (including games where people take turns):

NES: Bad Dudes, Battletoads, Contra, Double Dragon 2, Kings of the Beach, Super Mario Bros (1-3), TMNT II: The Arcade Game, TMNT III: The Manhattan Project, Track & Field 2

SNES: Battletoads & Double Dragon, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Final Fight 2&3, Gradius III, Knights of the Round, Sunset Riders, Super Double Dragon, Super Mario All-Stars / World, Super Mario Kart, Super Pinball: Behind the Mask, Tetris & Dr. Mario, TMNT IV: Turtles In TIme, Top Gear 2

Genesis: Altered Beast, Columns, Golden Axe / GA 2, Mortal Kombat (any), Ms. Pac-Man, NFL 94, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage (all 3)

PlayStation: Gran Turismo/GT 2, Ten Pin Alley, Twisted Metal / TM 2, Um Jammer Lammy, Vigilante 8, WCW Nitro

N64: Diddy Kong Racing, Forsaken 64, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Vigilante 8, Wave Race 64

Sega Dreamcast: Hydro Thunder, Marvel vs. Capcom / MvC 2, Power Stone 1&2, Rush 2049, Star Wars Episode 1 Racer, Vigilante 8 2nd Offense, Zombie Revenge

PlayStation 2: Gran Turismo 3/GT 4, Motorstorm Arctic Edge, SSX, Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 5, Twisted Metal Black, Twisted Metal Head-On: Extra Twisted Edition

GameCube: Mario Kart Double Dash, Star Wars Rogue Leader, Star Wars Rebel Strike

Xbox: Burnout 3 & 4, Fuzion Frenzy, Halo/Halo 2, MechAssault, Project Gotham Racing/PGR 2, Rallisport Challenge/RS 2, SSX Tricky, Star Wars Battlefront, Unreal Championship/UC2

I wasn't sure what system you were mainly looking for, so I listed all the main ones I could think of.

Local multiplayer with friends and an Xbox 360? Definitely need to try out N+ and the coop missions in that. My brothers and a friend of ours had a BLAST playing that for hours one night. Really a fun and challenging experience, and the coop makes everyone have to work together.

I sure hope you mean Time Splitters Future Perfect which would be the third in the installment, because 2 sucks... lol. Well, at least in my opinion.

Super Smash Bros. Melee and Fur Fighters for the Dreamcast. As far as Legacy multiplayer sports game, I would have to go with NBA2K or NFL2k, and multiplayer fighting game , I would have to say Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Well, Worms World Party on the Dreamcast's always good for a laugh with my buddies, same goes for Halo 2(even though I usually hate playing Halo, there's something about Blood Gulch...o_o), F Zero X, Super Smash Bros., Pokémon Stadium and the Mario Kart games. =P TMNT Turtles In Time on the SNESis fun too. Heck, I think I play my legacy games a lot more than I play my 360 and my Wii multiplayer. =P

My personal favourite 4-player games are

Smash Bros Series (various)

Mario Kart Series (various)

Powerstone 2 (DC)

Ooga Booga (DC)

Chu Chu Rocket (DC)

F-Zero Series (Various)

Timesplitters 2 (various)

Halo 2 (Xbox)

Deathtank Zwei (Saturn)

Bomberman (various)

Worms (various)

Micro Machines 96' (Mega Drive)

Star Fox Assault (Gamecube)

Warioware (Gamecube)

Toy Commander (Dreamcast)

Golden Eye (N64)

Perfect Dark (N64)

Generally I'd say that the Gamecube, Dreamcast and N64 were the best legacy consoles for 4-player games.
