Best Need for Speed

what do you guys think is the best Need for Speed game?

i like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit II for GC and PS2. I had the Gamecube version and i personally like this one best because its more of an arcade type version aside from the other Need for Speeds. Just pick a car, choose a color, and start a race. You don't have a"free roam" type mode anddon't worry about editing all the details of your car just to get the "perfect" setup. Also you can choose to have up to seven opponent racers in single player rather than justthree. I really like the enviroment settings too. Rather than racing in citys and towns, you race in more "natural" areas.

And i'm not sure if this is exactly true or not, but as far as i seen, this is the only NFS with cops to where if you have thethem turned on in single player races, the copsactually chase your opponents too and not just you and are able to bust them if they "catch" themand knock them out of the race.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit by a massive landslide. Criterion can do no wrong.

Yes Hot Persuit is excellent,And the 3DO IMHO had the best Need for Speed.

I really didn't get what was so special about the new Hot Pursuit, I hated it. My personal favourite is Most Wanted.

It would have to be between Hot Pursuit 2 and Underground 2.

alot better then any nfs released including the new hotpursuit which is a freakin disgrace to the hot pursuit series , 2 at least had customizable modes and everything that made nfs hot pursuit 1 fun but they left out voicing for cops, very seldem do they react to you,

I also liked NFS: Carbon and I'll give NFS: Hot Pursuit a chance because I just bought it new.

I'd personally have to go with the most recent Hot Pursuit. There are few games where the handling of the cars feel just "right" like in this game, and in combination with the breathtaking visuals and competitive online experience, it's honestly one of my favourite games of all-time. I also must say the second Hot Pursuit (which I am actually making a playthrough of right now) was a great game, and may have had the smartest cops in any video game.

On a side note, these kinds of threads usually aren't allowed on GGD. ;)

Old school Hot Pursuit on the computer. Me and my cousin played that for hours at his house. Good times.

Haven't played the new HP by Critierion, but I plan on giving that a go soon enough.

I enjoyed Most Wanted the most (sorry for terrible pun). Playing it with my racing wheel (may it rest in peace) was such an awesome experience.

For me most wanted, the latest hot pursuide is also pretty good.

Most Wanted is still, in my opinion, the best NFS out there.

Need for speed: High stakes (or Road challenge in Europe), maybe it's just out of nostalgia though. Next to that most wanted is still pretty awesome and I enjoyed shift a great deal too, despite its flaws.

NFSU2 is my favourite and I want a HD remake or at least a decent NFSU3 but I'm not very found of the new NFS: The Run

The only thing I didn't like about it is Snoop Dogg's version of "RidersOn TheStorm" (Yech!) :(
