Shadow of the Colossus is a great action adventure game.

Okami is a fantastic adventure game.

Ico was my favourite.

Since Shadow of The Colossus has been repeated a couple of times I'll break the mold. God of War I, and II.

Okami and Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal.

Here's one i never see listed, but it's really deserving of your time and has gotta be dirt-cheap:

"Drakan - The Ancients' Gates".

You will be amazed at how awesome it is. Huge open worlds with caves and dungeons scattered about, the many & varied monsters are so cool and the AI is really life-like, you cast spells (if you choose to use magic, your character is whatever you desire her to be though) using the stick to guide the casting movements (kind of like the brush in "Okami"), and did I mention they give you a whompin' Red Dragon to ride? Oh yeah... and it all works really well. I've played through it several times and still own it. Check it out. Hidden gem of the PS2.
