There are so many iterations of fifa and pro evolution soccer on the ps2 it's hard to know which one to pick,is it just a simple matter of choosing the newest one?i know for other game series that newest is not necessary the best,is that true or false for fifa/pro evolution?

I may not play fifa but I'll help bump this up anyways because I'm 100% certain someone is knowledgable here on those games.

First I thought American Football which I would put my vote in for NCAA 2009 lol but that is not what you are looking for.

I think that you are either in the PES camp or the FIFA camp. I have played the FIFA franchise since 1999, and I will never pick up a PES game in replacement. But, everyone is different. I would recommend buying one of each format from the older titles, as they will only cost you £1 each, then from that pick xour favourite franchise and then buy the newest version of that one.

Just to be the first to post in a culturally ignorant way, because it's gonna happen so I might as well...

... I like "Madden 11".

:D

(Actually, it's PES - Everyone knows that. Though they don't hold license for real teams, the game is infinitely better than any EA Sports crap.)

I was definitely going to come in here and say NFL 2K5. But since it's soccer, go with whatever the most recent PES is for PS2.

I enjoyed Madden NFL 2006 made in 2005 was the final year that the focus was on Playstation 2. Before Xbox 360 and later Playstation 3 took EA attention.

So for PS2 Madden 06

It really does depend on the year though. FIFA 04 is (imo) a garbage game, but 06-08 are absolutely fantastic. Look at the reviews, if you have a store to try games then try a couple there, and then move forward. Personal opinion is that FIFA 08 and World Cup 06 are probably the two best football games out there for the ps2

I'm not a fan of football myself, but i do enjoy football games occasionally.

For me the best was Pro Evo 5 (Winning Eleven 9).

PES 2006 was the best PES on the PS2, followed closely by PES 2008.

FIFA 08 was the best FIFA on the PS2.

PES was better during the last generation, though FIFA has now overtaken it. I can't remember which number it was, but the Pro Evo game with Adriano on the cover stood out to me as being the best one.
