Best ps2 racing game ?

easily nfs hp2 or ssx 1 or 2

GT4 or Gadget Racers. Gadget Racers was one of those child oriented, whacky but fun racing games that was incredibly entertaining. You could upgrade and get wings to fly, new floats for when driving in water, it was just crazy good fun.

Any burnout, or twisted metal black.

Great racing, cool music, high speed

Flatout and Flatout 2 - the extra mini games and demolition derby (the best I've every played) are just icing on the cake.

To watch your car slowly fall apart, to see your driver fly though the windshield - doesn't get much get better.

NFS Hot Pursuit and NFS Carbon are great too, especially for the police element but Flat Out flattens 'em both.

Any of the Burnout series I like them all.

Test Drive Unlimited

Truly not as good as its Xbox360/PC counterpart (not just in graphics, mind you), but it still is a damn fine racing game nonetheless.

Gran Turismo 4, although Burnout 3 is a close second.

Theyre two very different racing games though. Its almost like comparing a different genre of game really.
