Best sequel ever ?

What would you consider the best sequel. a game that gave you so much more than you bargained for. A game that did a total overhaul on what the previous instalment set up. For me it was jak 2. that game added so much to the story, graphics, design, everything was just perfect to me.

I would have to say either Half Life 2 or Halo 2.

Either Mega Man 2 or Resident Evil 4

The best sequel I've played that was better than than the first would be Ratchet & Clank Going Commando. Upgrading weapons was a great add, and a better health bar imo.

Half Life 2

I think Mortal Kombat 2 would be a popular answer. It was a gigantic leap forward from the original.

I don't know if it counts, but Oddworld Much's Odyssey was actually the third in the series after Oddworld: Abe's Oddyssey and Oddworld: Abe's Exodus. Munch was just so far beyond the first two games, probably my favorite advancement in a series.

Twisted Metal 2. They took a decent game and fixed and refined everything until they made the best game ever made

Banjo Tooie is my favourite game of all time so I'll go with that.

Super Mario Bros. 3 and Street Fighter 4. Mario 3 is pure awesome, and SF4 brought back the fun of SF2, but added more characters and moves along with online:D

Call of Duty 4 and God of War 2 are also awesome sequels

MGS 2 was good, MGS 3 was great, MGS 4 was super great. Generally I feel Hideo Kojima and his team get better with technology and story telling experience.

Generally the sequel to an amazing franchise isn't as mind blowing as the first... oh wait. Vice City was like a sequel should be. GTA 3 was revolutionary. Vice City polished the gameplay and production values to a mirror sheen.

JKll, the puzzles, graphics, animations and story are allsurprisingly good for 2002, not to mention the game just became more fun to play, butthen againI haven't played a majority of the games mentioned here, maybe I'm justbeing ignorant.

P.S, when yousay best sequel do mean most improvement? if so you should specify,and in that case I'll sayHalo 3 after Halo 2. Halo original was better than both, but Halo 3 was a huge improvement over Halo 2

In terms of overhaul Street Fighter 2. My personal favorite is probably Resident Evil 4 or Max Payne 2.

I have 3, MGS4 (completely blew my mind in terms of how much they were able to add to it from previous games), GTA: San Andreas (they had a LOT of things added), and Half-Life 2 (lots more different, more intense combat and I loved the Gravity Gun).

I though Half Life 2 was miles ahead of the first one.
