Okay guys, what's the best way of cleaning a video game disc, specifically a PS1 Disc. I heard alcohol works well, some people even say they use toothpaste to clean them but it's best to just make a topic about it.

All I know is, if you're talking about dust, you can wipe it with a lintless cloth in straight lines from the inside to the outside of the disk (no circular movements).

At places like Walmart they have these scratch repair devises for around $ 20.00. They're made to repair scratched DVD's but I don't see any difference, do you? Thx, for reminding me. I need to buy one of those myself. I only hope they work well for either - GL!!!

I have in fact heard that if you can use toothpaste to fill cracks/scratches, but I'm sure it's a YMMV situation -- I wouldn't risk it. I did try the boiling method once though, but it depends on how deep the scratches are. Boil a pot of water, stop the heat, then (using something that's NOT your hand) "lay" the disk into the water just enough so that the bottom of the disk is submerged and the top isn't. Leave it there for 10-15 seconds, take it off, dry it with a lintless cloth. This definitely won't work with deep scratches. I tried it with a LOT of light scratches and barely saw improvement.

I use "brasso"

Which is infact metal polish.
Put some on a cloth and rub over the scratch. It removes layers of plastic until the scratch is buffed out.
