big problem with an old xbox

i hear wierd noises coming from the back and it shorts out is it possible to fix or is it dead for good

Probably just get a new one. They are only $50 used. Besides, you don't want to risk your xbox catching the house on fire.

If you get a used one, make sure it works alright. I think mine might be wrecking my discs, or the lens is messed up. Some games wont work on my Xbox, but they work fine on my friends'. Just a word of caution...

When did you buy it? I know the power cords on the old Xbox got recalled because there were reports of it causing fires, maybe your power cord is going bad?

no its not the cord i check and it looks like the sparks or whatever its called are on the inside
