What sandbox game had the biggest environment ? Just Cause 2's world is 1,000 square kilomaters. Is it the biggest ?

san andreas is pretty damn big. i'm playing it now and there are three massive islands.
just cause 2 looks interesting. not sure if i'm getting it straight away, but looks like a whole lot of fun.
san andreas is about 14 square miles where just cause 2 is 400 so yea

i played the just cause 2 demo - it's so big. surely the biggest game environment to date. but it's so barren and somewhat boring.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but... uh, the Just Cause 2 demo only has one tiny island from the full games archipelago O_O
I'm pretty sure Daggerfall is the biggest, followed by Fuel. The problem with Fuel is that there's not a ton to do in it, making a huge world a wasted one. Also, I'm pretty sure in games like Minefield there's procedurally generated worlds where if you keep walking in one direction the game world will make itself up as you go.

I thought the emptiness is what made FUEL appealing. From a gameplay-perspective there wasn't a whole lot to do in free roam mode, but driving around aimlessly had a meditative feel to it.
