After finishing all the mass effect games in record time i was searching for a game similar i gameplay. After reading all the USERS reviews in metacritic I got Binary domain.

Its like mass effect meets deus ex humanrevolution in a capcom 90's arcadade blockbuster package.

Even the voice commands works really well using my laptops microphone. Not even using headphones with one!

Why is such an underrated game? What I am missing?

I was surprised. Really liked it, went completely under the radar. It happens. Apparently if it's singleplayer and not an open world game, people don't want to play it, so there was very little word of mouth.

@jord: The game simply got overlooked because it released with little advertising and several highly popular games flanking it. Most people probably chose to buy Mass Effect 3, The Darkness II or Syndicate at the time. If no one buys your game, there's no one to praise it.

I bought the game shortly after launch because I had heard it was a hidden gem, it's definitely a well known hidden gem on the 360, though on PC even hidden gems get drowned out by other hidden gems.

criminally overlooked game.

I don't have a mic, never used those commands; do they make it that much better, for real!? lol I always thought it was kind of a gimmick

Anyway, I love the game, love the action, the humor, the heroes, the story...it's just great, and corny in the best way possible, good gameplay mechanics.

I feel like there is going to be an open world "bubble" and it's going to burst, like pretty soon nearly every game is going to be open world and there's going to be no allure at that point to an open-world game and as a result the appeal will come crashing down, and hopefully we will see a return to focused level design.

Say what you want about Dragon Age: Origins, I thought it had the best combination of open- and closed-level design; focused enough to be detailed and purposeful, but still large enough to make you feel like you're an explorer with freedom. I'd like to see more games like that, more games that are "zoned" or "instanced" or whatever you want to call it.

I thought it was ok, but I much prefer Nagoshi's Yakuza series instead. Vanquish is also far better as an alternative sci-fi tps.

I got it for free on PSN years ago and it was an absolute blast to play! The voice acting and dialogue was pretty bad at times, but the actual game is really fun, it was kinda a mix of terminator and blade runner.

It's one of those gems that you just happen to stumble across, remember the voice commands were a bit wonky for me since I don't have a proper English accent when I speak but otherwise a rather enjoyable game.
Would say that if you like Sci-fi Anime and third person shooters then it's worth a try.

@Renegade_Fury:

Yeap. It not a 6/7 as some critics gave to it but not a 9 either.

Im having a lot of fun with it. Great facial expressions and cinematics, great japanesse design and a lot of well writen humour. The voice commands works fine with my laptop microphone. But...

The rpg elements are quite useless. I can see me pretty much completing the whole game without any weapon upgrade, using tactical commands or building any relationship.

Its a fun, hypervitamined game. It has its charm but after 3 hours I can see why it is in a middle ground.

It's a fun game. Really cool setting and the way you can take down the robots limb by limb is a really fun gameplay mechanic
