Considering that only the Elite 360 can actually output 1080p, it would be a waste of time trying to optimize BioShock to run at those resolutions. But if it bothers you that much, get the PC version and run the game at even higher resolutions than 1080p.

I already put money on the 360 version. 1080i would have been enough though I ould like 1080P
720p is going to be used for the vast maority of games - especially 360 games. Increasing the resolutions is extremely taxing on the hardware and in most cases, it forces the developers to cripple some other aspect of the game (level of detail, level size, number of enemies, environment interactivity...) which in the end isn't really worth it - especially considering the extremely small number of 1080p HDTV's on the market.

yeah that sounds like a great idea, you'll only needa $3,000.00 pc to run bioshock greater than 1080p, but sure that sounds great.

Never said that it was cheap. That's the price of increased clarity and performance - only for hardcore enthusiasts.

*Sigh*
I've given this speech to people a million times, so I'll have to give it again.
The Core and Premium 360s can also output 1080p. Native 1080p, too. VGA ALWAYS outputs native 1080p for a Full HDTV, and component outputs native 1080p if the TV supports it.

I stand corrected, forgot about the software update.
I was looking at the gamespace over at IGN and I noticed it only has 720P underits features. I hope this is a mistake cause I the game would look absolutely stunning in 1080P/iMulti-Alias
do you have a 50'+ 1080p HDtv?

But you'll spend +$3,000 on an awesome 1080p capable HDTV?

yeah i guess that's the price you'd have for a 50" samsung LCD tv
but let's be reasonable...26" have come down to $450 still cheaper than a top of the line PC

You shouldn't even spend half that 3000 for a PC that blows the 360 version away.

Why dont we be reasonable? Apparantly when it comes to 1080p console gaming everyone's a budget gamer and a $3,000 setup is unreasonable and impractical because of existing products that are much cheaper that provide roughly comparable results. But when it comes to PC gaming its not unreasonable to expect a $3,000 setup to be the only option capable of displaying Bioshock at qualities greater than the 360.

Wow, I just said I already put money on the 360 version plus I dont have enough cash to buy a new PC right now. Damn, you read or at least have the common sense to ask me before you just blurt out a solve-nothing solution.
unless your TV is over 50 inches don't worry about it.trifecta_basic
Jesus. I wouldnt ask if my TV couldnt do 1080i/P
unless your TV is over 50 inches don't worry about it.trifecta_basic
In fact the size of his TV is not revelant at all. The native resolution is. If his TV is a full HDTV with a native resolution of 1920x1080 even if it's a 32" Sharp Aquos full HD it will look better at 1080p.
The difference between 1024x768 (4:3 equivalent of 720p) and 1280x1024 (5:4 equivalent of 1080p) is easily noticable even on a 17" monitor if this monitor has a native resolution of 1280x1024.
Of course 1500$ and up HDTV are better at interpolation of non native resolutions than cheap PC monitors. But still you see the difference no matter what the size of the TV is.
Also 1080p over a small TV may be "useless" for HD movies since 720p will do the job. But for games it's a must.

Maybe the game simply doesn't run well enough to support 1080 lines. It's a somewhat high resolution to achive 60 fps even for a good PC. Bioware has never been a good company to push the power of a system. I remember the dissapointment when i installed Neverwinter Nights. The game was not looking really good and the frame rate was really poor. I could not run it past 800x600 while i was able to run better looking game at 1024x768.

There's a way to get 1080p, and like the users have just said, it's getting the PC version. If you're so persistent and determined to achieve your BioShock fanboy dreams, then also buying the PC version won't hurt.
