Blizzard says Starcraft Ghost is NOT cancelled

Basically, the Blizzard rep says that technically, Starcraft Ghost was never cancelled but left aside because of their heavy work load focusing on WoW, Lich King, Starcraft II, etc.

So there's still the possibilty that Starcraft Ghost will come out one day.

My opinion? If it does come out, I think the wait will be worth it especially with next-gen graphics, etc. I think it will be a better game than if it came out last gen.

I was looking forward to it.

Not exactly excited anymore unless they start again from scratch.

I don't think it will ever come out as it was originally intended.

That said, the timeline seems strangely reminiscent of the Warcraft series:
-Warcraft II...RTS
-Warcraft Adventure....cancelled
-Warcraft III...RTS with characters and ideas pulled from the cancelled adventure game
-World of Warcraft

What do we have now?
-Starcraft...RTS
-Starcraft Ghost..."cancelled"
-StarCraft II...RTS, probably will take some concepts/art developed for Ghost?
-Rumors of a new Blizzard next-gen MMO

Though it may technically not be cancelled, just "left aside", I have a feeling that IF it ever does come out it'll be a very different concept and execution from what was shown before.

Basically the "Starcraft Ghost" that you saw before is no more....they may some day recycle a similiar core theme or even the use the name in some form, but I the action stealth console game that people currently know "Starcraft Ghost" as will most likely never release.

There have been many games Blizzard has had in initial development that were never actually announced as being "cancelled"....though they just never released....which is basically the same thing. Or if they core concept did release then they released in a completely different form....that long list that Blizzard gave at DICE is testiment to that.

I hope it comes out. I do like Blizzard games. I'm skeptical though.

Blizzard went out and bought Swingin' Ape Studios, the guys who made one of the best games nobody cared about last gen called Metal Arms: Glitch In The System, to specifically make Starcraft Ghost.

There has not been a peep ot of Swingin' Ape since then, so I'd imagine they've been hard at work on Ghost since being bought.
