So far, I've focused on increasing my vitality, endurance, and strength, all of which now have values in the twenties. Combined with my other attributes, which have been only moderately or meagerly increased, the overall level of my character is now 66. Are my stats average or below average for the part of the game that I am currently at, which is Hemwick Charnel Lane (I've just defeated the Witch of Hemwick).

Also, share your stats and the approach you've used in increasing them.

You are well ahead of the Hemwick Charnel Lane area in terms of your level. I'm currently level 79, and my stats are these:

VIT: 21

END: 24

STR: 30

SKL: 23

BLOODTINGE: 14

ARC: 17

@mastermetal777:

Good to know. Perhaps that's why defeating Darkbeast Paarl was relatively easy for me (I beat him in less than two minutes on my second attempt [I ended my first attempt by using a Bold Hunter's Mark because I was scared]).

@emil_fontz: yeah, I'm currently trying to get past The Nightmare of Mensis. It's tougher (and stranger) than I expected

So far, the strangest area that I've visited in the game is Hypogean Gaol; it feels like a completely different world compared to the rest of the game and makes me feel uneasy. By the way, here's the video of me taking about Darkbeast Paarl.

I finished the game at level 68. I got 30 health, 25 endurance, and then went all strength to scale my Ludwig's Holy Blade. Damage output was like 500 something.

Damn, I'm at level 66 and don't think I'm anywhere near the end of the game. I wonder how much stronger I'll become by the time I do reach the end.

My final gametime on my first playthrough was 16.50. Ive played all the Fromsoft games though, so my level/game time is probably very low compared to others.

I beat the game around level 81, I really only focused on vitality, endurance, and skill since the weapon I used the most scaled best with skill. From the sounds of the area you're at you are a much higher level than you should be, have fun curb stomping bosses!

I'm not sure of my exact stats but I put the most points into strength, skill, endurance, and vitality in that order(str most, vit least). Only spent a couple points in bloodtinge and none for arcane.

How far into the game would you say I am? 50%? 75%?

@emil_fontz: about 40%. The game is pretty big if you don't rush it like some did. I'm on new game plus right now.

Skills soft cap at 25 hard cap at 50.

Cannon requires 30 STR so get that. Everything else is optional.

For souls games, my first characters are always "over leveled" and I spread stats out.

28 VIT

28 STR (working towards 30 for cannon)

27 END because one extra green of stamina can = 1 more 2handed swing

18 skill because I'm dumb

22 ARcane for Item Find and enchanted weapons.

9 Bloodtinge because I think that stat is worthless?

maybe it would be good for exploiting the Cannon then? Other than that, useless. The guns are just for parrying moves mostly.

Indeed, but no one would spec for weak enemies. I will admit to being cheap w/ the gun sometimes and just range fighting dogs b/c they are annoying, but that is w/ Bloodtinge of 9 and still 2 or 1 shotting them w/ 20 Insight.

What I find super annoying is if you shoot a dog and it falls down, if you shoot it again it will automatically miss due to a glitch w/ hit detection.

If someone wants to spec for Guns go for it. Maybe a DLC will allow dual wielding guns for fun.

@Expane: there's one weapon that has a gun built in, so that's something.

so to understand Bloodtinge you have to understand the lore. Bloodtinge basically covers anything tinged with your blood. You are a paleblood...no clue what that means except that quicksilver courses through your veins. This is what allows you to extract QS ammo by bleeding yourself. Usually this only factors into guns, BUT, the chikage's r1 action causes the player to stab themselves with the sword, coating the sword in blood...quicksilver blood.

So the Chikage (katana) in its second form scales heavily off bloodtinge and the 50 Bloodtinge/ 25 skill build that goes along with this weapon is considered one of the strongest builds in the game if not the strongest. Other weapons that have a high bloodtinge scaling like the rifle spear and saber, pretty sure the BT stat only applies to firing the gun attached to the weapon. So the Chikage is very unique and makes BT heavy builds viable.

I haven't found bloodtinge all that useful, because guns don't do that much damage. Maybe the Chikage would benefit, because the trick move drains your blood. Other weapons like the Reiterpallasche (spelling?) and the rifle spear don't scale melee damage with bloodtinge, only shooting damage, so its not helpful.

Best move: Scale Arcane, then throw oil on an enemy, then use the flamethrower. = results.

Very cool info there, i haven't made it far enough to get the Katana yet.

Tonitrus is also very powerful, almost OP'd
