blown out controller ports on dream cast

NOW I KNOW WHY SEGA DIDNT LAST LONG, i got a dreamcast yesterday i played it for a while i had one officail controller 2 3rd party ones, the minute i put the other 2 in my dc went out on me, then i got one today just two minutes in it did the same thing no controller port worked

Well, that sucks, if that's what happened.

But:

1. It has never happened to me or to any of my friends or anyone else I know on the Dreamcast forums that I've been to.

2. The golden rule is to stay away from third party controllers, memory cards and other peripherals.

Never happened to mine, I think it might have been the 3rd party controllers.

The thing with the Dreamcast is you have to plug in your controllers before turning on the console. It's not like other systems where it's plug and play at anytime. I almost forgot that little thing about the system until I saw this post. This brings back memory.

Also, don't touch any buttons when powering on the system either. It will mess up the controller that way.

Wasn't N64 the same way? You had to have the controllers plugged in and in neutral positions before you turned it on?
