As you probably already know, MW2 will be receiving DLC priced at $15. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6253609.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;1.

The DLC will contain 5 maps. 3 of those maps will be new, 2 of them will be rehashes of COD4 maps.

This is ridiculous pricing. Here are some perspectives:

  • $15 is equal to 25% of a $60 priced game. Are 3 new maps, and 2 old maps, really worth a quarter of a new game??
  • $15 / 5 maps = $3 per map. Do you want to pay $3 for a map you already played in COD4? Let alone $6 for two maps you've already played?
  • If you discount the COD4 maps, then you're paying $15 / 3 new maps = $5 map. You can buy a downloadable game for this cost.

Activision is clearly trying to see how high they can price these maps. It's $15 now. It will be $20 next time if they succeed at this price point. The only way to send a message to them is to NOT BUY THIS DLC!

Tell your friends, family and neighbors - whether you're 360, PS3, or PC: DO NOT BUY MW2 DLC at $15! Wait until a deal comes or until they drop the price point. If the DLC does not move well at $15, there will definitely be a discount, rest assured.

If you need to get your online fix, I suggest BBC2, as many others do.

Please spread the word, and thank you for your support.

They should do it this way, whomever bought the first COD4 gets $5 off then I will buy it.

You go do that... boycotting doesn't really work when the people who are selling it are rolling in money and don't really care if you buy it or not. There still will be a hell of a lot of people who buy it, so this will achieve about as much as the L4D2 boycott. Nothing.

Yup, people like me will buy the Map Pack at most any price. It will be one of the most downloaded items since the first MW map pack. Boycott=fail

What really sucks is, this is going to fragment the gaming community so less servers will be available to people who buyand those who don't. I really hate this whole dynamic of this generation. And yes thats way too much money for that. I never bought the COD 4 maps as that was too much @ $10. Considering I got the PC version for $20 with those maps free. I won't be buying this unless and until it hits 5 dollars which it won't. I really don't like Activision at all anymore.

lol these boycotts are hilarious. $15 dollars for maps in a bit pricey, but that's all it is, "a bit pricey". It's what $5 more than you expected to pay?

It's really not that bad. KZ3 had three map packs come out for $5.99 each. But they had a total of 6 maps. So 6 maps for $18. Halo 3 had 3 maps for $10. Seriously, suck it up. They have the biggest online shooter ever, they can charge you $20 and millions will still buy it. Just be glad they arent charging you more.

You might consider the DLC overpriced but it will still sell millions of copies. Not buying an expansion (to a game you already paid $60 for) and considering it a "boycott" is absolutely ridiculous. What you're doing is "waiting for a price drop", pure and simple.

Not everyone... I hardly play the game anymore as it is because of how glitchy it is. When you get online and all you can find are boosting matches and cheaters it kind of sucks all the fun out. I damn sure won't be paying to play more of their busted up game.

Although I'm not buying it, which I'm disappointed, I don't think a boycott would do anything. Activision knows this. They're not going for us. They're going for the millions of people who play the game that probably still don't even know who Infinity Ward is.

Haha! I'm sure quite a few people will pick it up even when they insist they won't but I'm certain I won't be one of them. My desire to play that game as it is has all but left me.

Just like the PC version boycott, this one is going to be broken by 95% of the people calling for it on day one of release.

I myself don't play MW2 nearly enough to warrant purchasing anything, and I have a personal policy against buying all DLC to begin with anyway unless there's something truly compelling about it (for example, Fallout 3's DLC was DLC done right).

Myself, I won't be purchasing it, but only because I've moved onto B:BC2. If I ever go back to MW2 I may reconsider that position.

I didn't plan on buying it anyway, you can boycott if you want to but Activision don't care, and the fans of the series are going to buy it no matter what.

Meh, if people want to spend their money on it, let them. Personally I'll just get them when they are cheaper. No need for a boycott.

I don't see a problem. Gears of War and Halo 3 release 3 crappy maps for 800 points in all their packs. MW2 releases 5 for 1200.

PC version went downhill after the few players who did like the COD series left this crappy arcade game, or atleast had high expectations for the game. Its too bad they upped the price tag, Took away Dedicated servers, put in the 'No Russian' story arc, added game-breaking Killstreaks and Attachments, had glitches all over the place and made normal lvl 70 seem easier than Prestige 5 lvl 2.

anyway, i learned my lesson. If someone sounds to good to be true, it usually is. Bad Company 2 didn't promise to be the greatest shooter, and seems to be on top right now.

Meh, not going to work. If you were to actually boycott something maybe try... boycotting the actual game?

Oh wait, that didn't work either.

Have you considered the posability that many of those Steam users joined that group just to stick it to the boycotters ? I don't think that the boycott will work but I appluad those who stick to it.

yea your just reachin for straws on that one dude, i agree i too appluad the people who actaully stick with it but so few actually do, hence the reason boycotts like these never work, companies just laugh them off because they know as well as we do that its just empty threats
