I have these waiting to be played but I don't have much time & won't get stuck into them until I can really devote a lot of time to them:

  • LoZ: WW
  • LoZ: TP
  • Persona 3+4
  • Okami
  • DQ8
  • SMT: DDS1+2
  • KH1+2
  • MGS1-4
  • Tenchu Z
  • Armored Core For Answer

It almost makes me want to drop out of Uni. I'm also someone that loves getting 100% in my games. Lately all I played is FIFA 11 with my brother for a quick match, or if I have an hour or so to spare I'll play an arcade game or grind a few materials in NIER.

I dunno, I kinda like the idea of having a backlog. It means I'll always have something to play when I'm bored.

Having more games than time is a nice problem to have. I'm more annoyed when I buy a game and realize that I don't want to play it because it's no fun.

Same here, although I often sell games that I don't play

Luckily, I have the chance to play every game I buy. Well, there's a few exceptions. I won several Genesis games several years back and never played all of them. I really don't know why. But other than that, I play all my games.

I have a few game's that I want to play but simple can't, have a full time job, but yea sure, when I get home, after I have done my stuff I could play a couple of hours, ( not everyday) but I have now gone and got myself a GF who is a very big fan of hating gaming... So I don't get the same chance as before the enjoy the gaming... tipical...

What I hate is when I'm excited about a game and buy it, but don't get around to playing it right away. When I finally get the time, I'm just not interested in it any more - so there's a perfectly good game sitting on my shelf and who knows if I'll ever even play it. :(

It doesn't bother me too much though - I look at it like I've got games in the bank, saved for a rainy day.

why buy something that you don't have time to enjoy?

Surely it would make more sense to purchase something when you've got the time to enjoy it.

Are you purchasing games just for the sake of owning them?

Why not simply wait, especially due to the fact that the price may drop considerablyby the time you eventually got around to playing it.

I find it impossible to accumulate a backlog because good PC games aren't released very consistently. It gives me more than enough time to play any game I want to play before another one comes out.

It doesn't really affect me. Sometimes, I buy games just to buy games. :P Steam sales, and other digital download sales are very tempting and hard to pass up. So a game I bought dirt cheap isn't going to make me feel bad if I never get to it. But would I like to play it eventually? Yes, of course. Unfortunately, I do not have the time... but at least, I bought the game when it was dirt cheap. As you know, some games never drop below a certain price tag, so it's always wise to grab a game at a sale price while you can. Getting to the game, to finish it, is another story. I always find the time to finish major titles though. But PC games I've purchased on sale can usually wait. Not a big deal. I kinda like the fact that I have a backlog.

Yep, feels crappy. Ive got two games wrapped up, one I'm planning to start soon, the other was a gift but I still want to try it out. I'm currently playing 3 games and have only been able to put like 10-15 hours a week towards them for the past two weeks due to a job change and tons of college projects.

I should be able to pump some more time into gaming from now on though. My new job, though still full-time, pays a lot better and has a more steady schedule (I wont have to take overtime to pay the bills).

...I'll post more about all this and how it relates to gaming in my blog... (feel free to read it!!!!).

i didnt create this thread for financial advice why i bought them is irrelevant and how much i payed is irrelevant if you think games being too pricey affects the amount of games you own then create a post to that effect dont assume everyone cares about price or money

About 3 years ago, I had a backlog of roughly 30 PS2 games that I had never played. For many of them I hadn't even removed the plastic cellophane wrap. At the time, I had decided that I wouldn't buy a PS3 until I beat all my PS2 games. Eventually all these great titles started coming out for PS3 so I went into hardcore mode and basically dropped out of life (everything besides sleep, eat and work) and gamed like I had never gamed before. It took me something like 4 months to beat them all, but I finally did and then bought a PS3. :P

Feels like a waste of money. When I finally get to play some of the games I had on hold they are half a price cheaper than what I paid for them.

I still have a lot of unplayed PC games from steam. I just can't resist those steam sales.

I would hate wasting my money on something that I never got a chance to play, but its happen to me before. I remember I bought 5 PS2 games in one day only problem was that they were 70 hours+. It took me awhile to finish all those games and it was very tiring, but at least I can say I didn't waste my money.

fine with it as the ones I ignore are usually compulsive bargain bin buys I've never got around to playing, but I attack that back log slowly, it's always there for the potential dry spell of releases, and considering some of the games I got but still haven't played are a lot more costly and difficult to get a hold of these days I'm glad I got them when I did

I hate not finishing games. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist/completest when it comes to my games, which only makes the problem worse.

I haven't beaten most of the games I own. I don't really like that fact, but it doesn't bother me because I know they're not going anywhere. I'll get them done on my own good time.

On PC, my backlog mostly consists of old games I picked up during (Steam) sales, so I don't really have trouble building a good archive.

I only buy games when I know I will have time to play them. I hardly ever have a backlog, the biggest backlog I've ever had is probably 3/4 games.

I'm about the same, I used to be a total perfectionist when it comes to gaming, but then I learned how long it takes to unlock every achievement, or even attain the highest class in multiplayer (Halo:Reach, mostly). Plus sinking a few hundred hours of multiplayer into Reach caused for me to miss out on a load of games I am still trying (and failing) to complete. At some point you have to admit defeat and decide that only the games that are awesome through and through (for me that's open-world action adventures a la GTA) are alloted hundreds of hours of game time, while the rest get a single playthrough and possibly and achievement run or maybe just a second run to relive the highs and lows, but that's about it. After that, you just have to put it down and move on.

I would like to throw in another question though. When are you complete a RTS like Viva Pinata? There isn't any real ending, and the second one (which I have only begun to play this weekend) has much harder achievements than the first. Is the goal still unock all achievements and (in-game) awards? It's so hard to know when I'm done with these games.

Simply had to add to this:

I agree this thread is not for financial advice, and second a gamer (maybe just an insane gamer, like me) would sink money into games even if I was homeless on the street and my only possession was say, an original GameBoy. Gaming is our passion, some of us have little else. Get a life? My life is gaming. =)

I still haven't got round to playing killzone 2, mafia 2, crysis 2.
