  1. Do you get it immediatly after it releases? Depending on the title? (ex. COD, GTA, DA:O)
  2. Do you wait for reviews to come out?(ex. GamesInformer, GameTrailers, Gamespot, etc.)
  3. Or Do you wait till it gets cheaper or buy it used?
  4. Or Do You Pre-Order?

just wondering, if there is another point in your decision making plz post

it depends on the game. most games i can wait for as ive always got plenty to play. but some games i don't mind paying the premium to have at launch. LA Noire, gear 3 or uncharted 3 for instance i will buy day 1.

as for reviews, i have been buying games for 20 years now so i know what im going to like and don't need a score to back that up. and i can't remember the last time i bought a bad game.

@jacen There are a tonne of new releases that I want. But I look for older games for less money that are reviewed well. Basically anything above a 7 and I will look into it. I am fairly new to the PS3, so my choices are ample. I have a list of about 20 games that I will pick up when I come upon them. All of which are under $20. By the time I get around to playing those, the good new releases will have dropped in price drastically.

If it is a game from a series I really like then I will get it day one usually by pre-order but if it isn`t then I wait until they drop in price.

I pre-order all my games. If I know I'll get it right after release I might as well pre-order it. Often comes with some bonusses too. Waiting for a price drop is way too long if I really want the game.

It greatly depends on which game it is and my financial situation at the time. If it is a game I am deeply interested in, I'll often preorder to get the additional content or gift from gamestop. However, due to the fact that I work full-time, have bills, a fiance, and go to school, my funds do not always allow me to preorder all of the games that I wish I could. (I typically buy about 5-6 brand new games a year, preordering 3-4 of them.)

Other than that, I'm pretty big on buying older games, I usually buy a few a month, often from several generations of gaming.

It really depends on how much I want the game, or how rare the game will be. Some games I buy on day one or preorder because they're collector's editions, and will most likely be hard to find after a few months after its release.

I've purchased one game at launch (Halo 2), and I regretted it. I generally don't pay more than $10 for a game. Most usually around $3 or $4. My Steam collection is massive, and my Xbox collection is over 500.

I buy games that I look forward to when they first come out.

Then I rent most of the others so I can skip the poor games and get them cheap if I like them.

I usually wait for the price to drop on most games but there are some games I buy new to support the developer and just to play it as soon as possible.

It depends on the game and how much money I have on me at the time. I'd say the majority of my game purchases usually fall within the first few weeks of a game's release.

I pretty much always wait till games go down in price before I get them. I've never had the urge to pre-order games either.

I don't pre-order. If I'm really, really anticipating a game I buy it day one. Otherwise I can wait until the weekend. ;)

For me it definitely depends on the game. If it's a game to a series I love then I'll either pre-order it or get it pretty much the same week as the release. If it's a first time release game that I'm curious about then I'll just wait on the reviews and then make a decision on when or if I'll get it, or I'll wait for the price to drop a little.

Depends on a game. If its from my favorite series then I'll purchase it on a release day. If its something new then I'll probably wait a few months, unless I don't have other games to keep me occupied.

I pre-ordered Mass Effect 3. Oh, and Pokemon White. First time I've ever done so. I also bought Halo 2 at launch, but I didn't regret it at all.

It depends on the game... For example I recently ordered 3 new games The Dragon age preorder, Soul Calibur 4 for twenty bucks and Brutal Legend for nine dollars all new through Amazon.

Sometimes if Gamestop is having thier summer blowout I will load up on used games.

Other times I will forget about a game I was planning to pick up at launch and see it a year later for twenty bucks. This year I will be picking up more new games than ever before with Saints Row 3, A new Elder Scrolls, Catherine,Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, mass Effect 3 ect I honestly don't know how I will find time to play all of them (let alone my backlog)

Overall I like to see a price drop to 39 or 29 dollars before taking the plunge but there is something fun about preordering a game like Dragon Age 2 or RDR.

Several. My Backloggery is the most up-to-date for the moment. I haven't bother to add all of the Steam games from Christmas to other websites.

This seems to be a much easier path to take this generation - games fall in price extremely fast. I mean, you could buy Mass Effect 2 for $15 less than a year after it came out. Sin & Punishment hit $5 not more than 7 months post launch - same with Halo 3. Infamous was $20 two months after release day - God of War 3 $20 as well about five months after. That's not even mentioning the various GOTY editions that are an absolute boon to patient gamers, letting us score Fallout 3 with $50 of DLC for less than the price of the vanilla game at launch. I'll still buy the occasional game at full price, but it's rare.
