Ok, this bugs me a little bit, and I know there are others out there like me. But I buy games, don't finish them, new games come out that I want to play so I buy them and the process continues. And I absolutly hate not finishing games, especially SP ones with campaigns. Lately I've been trying to prevent myself from buying any more untill I finish some, so its forcing myself to finish some games. But its hard cause then games come and go and I never end up getting them. Its really annoying when there are so many games you want to play at the same time.

So how many out there do this, and how bad are you? I typically only do it with a few games at a time, I won't let 6-7 games pile up unfinished, but right now I have at least 4, lol.

I feal your pain, and it costs a lot of money to be as lazy and selective as I am. That is why I am broke and can't afford the great games still to come.

I do not allow any correlation whatsoever between my backlog and my purchases. The way I see it, if I have a gigantic backlog, I'll have new stuff to play if I either lose interest in what's happening hardware-wise someday, or if I fall on hard times and can't afford to buy new games.

So basically, instead of shooting a game I'm playing straight to my backlog upon buying another, I put the purchased titles straight in the backlog. Besides, why should I risk missing out on a great game that might not be there by the time I finish whatever I'm on?

I know what you mean. I buy new games all the time and never finish the ones I was playing on. I swear I've got more games in my backlog than the games I've actually completed.

It's simple: I exercise self-control and buy one or two games at a time and I actually finish them. Plus if I want to go get something hot that came out a while ago, I save by being able to get pre-owned.

I used to do that... now I just have a bunch of unfinished games, so I've now completely stopped buying games.

I think you have to differentiate between the games you don't finish cause you get bored with them or don't really like them that much, and the games you just put aside because something you want to play more comes out. For the former, I'll usually trade thoseunfinished games in forthe new ones, andfor thelatter, its not like it was a wastecause I'll generally get to it again someday and enjoy playing the rest. Its all about how muchpleasure you get from the game as a whole, even if that means taking a2 month hiatus, that matters.

I do that all the time. I bought the GOTY version of Oblivion, because I had only the original game. Two days ago I also bought The Witcher and I haven't had time to touch it yet. I like to finish what I've started before starting something new.

Meh. I buy games for the experience not so I can feel like Fred Savage in "The Wizard". 90% of my games go unfinished so sue me.

I play games for fun. When they're not fun or something better comes along I'm done.

Once in a while I'll make sure I finish when I want to write a review or just want to know how it ends but much of the time I don't finish them I just quit playing.

That's why I'm afraid to buy Zack and Wiki yet. Because if I'm not finished before Mario Galxy comes out, I'm afraid that I'll just drop it and forget it.

Yeah I do that too. I usually don't have too many games left unfinished though. Having a backlog of games doesn't really bother me though and sometimes I'll jump from game to game and start playing a newly bought game before finishing another game I may be playing at the moment. I won't hold back on getting a game I want if I have games that are unfinished since I know I'll get around to finishing them at some point.

I think it's also important to keep games out of the hands of those who would turn around and eBay them to you for $100 a couple years later.

Well see thats the problem for me, alot of the games I play are RPG's. I still have not beat LoZ TP and Suikdoden V, I've logged like 25 hours into both in the past year. I have Super Mario Strikers that I've put like 2 hours into, MP3 that I've put 1 hour into, a new Xbox 360 that came with Ultimate Alliance and Forza that I've put about 2 hours into, and there are some more games I want.

I'm figured everyone is in the same boat, just to varying degrees.

I suffer from compulsive game buying. Ive even bought game for a system I did'nt have yet. I usually try to devote like a weekend at a time to catch up on the older ones. Lately though I havent bought too many new ones , C&C3 being my last.

I'm a huge fan of me having money, so I keep myself to a budget since I don't make that much of it. I buy very few new releases within a year.

well I basically don't think about finishing them I do hen I do. The way I do it is when a game comes out that I want to play I buy it and play that for a while til I get bored with it... I do this so at least I can know whats going on in the gaming world and know what people are talking about when a game is good... I will know why and be abole to talk about it. Then Once I get bored and I have no new games to get I play the older ones.... it takes a long time to complete them but I get around to them some day. Also going back to a game you have no played in a while that was good actaully makes you appriciate it more because you forgot how good it was!

I finish what I have before moving on to something new, which yes means I will still go ahead and buy it but not even remove the plastic till its time to play.

I started doing that last holiday season and highly regret it. I bought so many games that even now I have some that are still unfinished. I've limited myself to buying maybe one or two a month at most, just like I did back before I was making a steady income. It allows me to enjoy the games I buy so much more... it is a waste to buy a game, play a couple hours of it and then never finish it. Developers work hard to make these games and we should appreciate them all to the fullest. Nuts to those who think every game needs to be played right away... just play a couple of the ones you want most then move on to others later down the road.

What about people who buy the games right away just to keep from having to pay more for them in the event they get rare? Rather than dropping whatever they're playing when they buy something else, what about the players who buy games and immediately shelve them for future play?

Instead of buying games after finishing previous ones, I merely wait till I get "stuck" on one (a level or boss) and use that as an excuse to go buy a new game.

I have 10 games or so that I haven't even touched yet. Only tested them when I got them to see if they worked.

I have a really large stack of unplayed "must-play" games, and yet I keep buying more.
I have some sort of psychological problem.
