How do you feel about buying single player games? Specifically games that don't have online multiplayer. For example, Assassin's Creed, Batman:AA or X-men Origins: Wolverine? Do you just rent these types of games or do you purchase them?

I defiantly buy them I've always been a huge fan of single player, I don't see why someone wouldn't buy a game just because it's single player. If any games didn't have it then I most likely wouldn't be a gamer anymore.

Yeah. I buy single-player only games. It's a shame that online multiplayer has become such a huge factor in console game purchases, when just a couple console generations ago, it didn't matter (and it wasn't the deciding factor in the last gen consoles either).

I buy SP games with long campaigns and only rent the ones with short SP experiences and mainly multiplayer focused.

I prefer single-player games to multi-player. I feel that I have much more freedom that way.

I don't think multiplayer is a bad thing per-se, but i love my SP campaigns, and that's what i spend the majority of my game time playing. Not surprising considering I mostly play RPGs. Though admittedly, it would be nice to see an online multiplayer interaction added to RPGs... like, being able to pit your hand-grown party against other players' parties, or having speed trials to clear bosses/dungeons, and things of that nature.

i like single player games if they have replayability if they dont then i play them once and never toch them again. if you ask me i like games with both single and multiplayer for instance assains creed you finish it and then what?

in terms of shooters a good one is Starwars battlefornt 2 becasue unlike most shooters that only have a single player campain and multipler this also has as instant action mode that gives you more mialige out of the game rather then it is done and i will never play again.

Most of the games in my collection I bought for the single player campaigns. Indeed, there are some games where I felt the multiplayer component was redundant, and was actually a waste of the developer's time and resources.

While some developers may see that adding multiplayer to their game will offer to extend its longevity, in many cases there are very small numbers of players, and the multiplayer communities die quickly after the game's initial release. Unless a developer can bring something new and compelling to the multiplayer gaming space, that can compete with many titles that have a multiplayer bias (or are designed solely for that experience), then I feel some developers at least would be better advised to spend their resources elsewhere.

I would much rather play a high quality, highly polished SP game, than a tacked on vanilla MP game.

Buying. I quite often prefer SP games. I do like MP games, SP games are just better most of the time, with a good story, and no likke pr*cks yelling on mics and grieving

I prefer single player games or games that have both deep single and multiplayer experiences. I would never buy multiplayer only not a big fan of it.

Yeah. I buy them. Why wouldn't I?

We don't all love online multiplayer. If a game doesn't have a good single play campaign, i'd skip it all together

Not a fan of online multiplayer, I'd buy a game with an excellent SP and no MP over a game with an OK SP and amazing mutliplayer.

Starting to stray from the trend. Multiplayer is a pain. It's great really, I managed to enjoy fantastic games like InFamous and Valkyria Chronicles. Going for Brutal Legend next. (I wanted it even before they announced online)

I won't buy a game unless is has an online multiplayer component. If it's singleplayer only, I rent it.

it wouldn't hurt anyone to have an online mode so that when u finish the game and replay it u can test your skills with other players.

They're pretty much all I buy. Screw online gaming - I'll always prefer a good single-player experience. Always.

I usually can't stand the "tacked-on" feeling that most multiplayers have. I usually buy a game exclusively for single player or multiplayer, but rarely ever both.

I agree with you. I haven't been able to get into online gaming. For example, for sports games, you can't play online with custom sliders, so I end up hating the style of game played online. For FPS games, I suck, so I end up just getting killed and it turns out not to be much fun. I love multiplayer with friends around, but online just isn't the same.

Since RPG developers are still putting most of their resources into single player, the big emphasis on online gaming this gen has allowed me to rediscover RPGs in the past year, so for that I'm grateful.

I usually prefer single player games. there are a few I like playing online like GTA4 and TF2 but I mostly play games by myself. I only have 2 people on my XBL friends list, one who I play online on TF2 with and the other I haven't talked to yet. :)

I prefer single player story based games to online. Always have, and always will. Not that I hate playing online, I love it... but some people take online way too seriously.

I generally only buy games with very strong single player. I do not have xbox live and the Wii's online capability is generally not stellar for most of it's games. If a game cannot stand on it's own without multiplayer than I generally don't give a damn about that game.

Yes. I only play the story/singple player mode of games.

I'm not into MP. I never even touched MGO in MGS4, never tried the online in GTA4 and SR2. I'll just borrow Uncharted 2 from a friend because I'm only after it's story.

I'm currently having fun playing Way of the Samurai 3 and the latest Ratchet and Clank. :)

I don't remember the last time I played a game online or multiplayer. I purchase games regardless of how great the SP is, unless of course I'm not interested in the game at all (aka sports).

I only buy single player games, not a big fan of multi-player games. Don't have many friends that game, so I never got into online gaming.

I'd rather play single player games myself. Yes I play multi-player from time to time, but the single player storyline and gameplay is much more appealing to me.

I definitely buy single-player games. Honestly, it's been a couple months since I've been online, so I really only ever play single-player campaigns.

personally I prefer to buy titles that have long replayablesingle player experiences.. certainly not games that boast 5, 6, 7 hour campaigns !!
