Wow, i am amazed at the reviews of this game. I would not be surprised if it gets game of the year. So either I am not right in the head, or I'm just not getting it. Why do I think it sucks so bad? I played through the campaign in a couple hours. It was pretty intense, but too short. But every time you play a level, the exact same events happen every time. So much for replay value. The AI is borderline mentally disabled. The game looks pretty, but it better. It doesn't hardly have any foilage, and what there is doesn't look that great. No squad mechanics, it has terrible, outdated physics.

It is just like playing an arcade game, run around theough these scripted events, don't worry about health, it comes right back, walk right up to a guy and shoot him, and repeat. It's terrible, same thing as call of duty 2 and 3 just with a different story and new guns and some better textures. The MP is a total rip off of rainbow six lockdown which no one played, but it is a total copy cat. So please help me understand, why does everyone love this game? And how can it even be put on a list with games like bioshock, orange box, and crysis?

I've yet to play the game (Will have a copy in about 2 weeks) and I do think that this game is getting an insane amount of praise but I'll have to play the game to have a valid argument.

To me the game is overrated becouse the only good thing about it is the multiplayer. I found the campaign short and tedius. Call of Duty 3 felt more intense than CoD4.

The game was quite overrated, the only part of the campaign I really enjoyed was the sniper mission. The rest were just linear, with endless waves of enemies with pretty much no AI and lots of perfect grenade throws.

Its a good game but other than the missions "All Ghillied Up" and "One Shot One Kill" it plays exactly like CoD2. All IW really did was slap a new coat of paint on it and people ate it up with a spoon. The online however is fantastic.

Too bad for you that you did not enjoy this game. For me it is the best fps I have ever tried(I have not tried Bioshock or Crysis)

What I loved about this game is the intensity and the incredible good graphics. Furthermore I do not agree with you that the physics are bad, besides the death-animations are perfect and the overall "feel" of the game is incredible. I have never played a game more realistic. I can agree with you about the arcade bit in some way, but I rather have it that way instead of a "realistic and frustratingly difficult game. The realistic characters appeal to me instead of some monsters from outer space.

Not to mention the utterly enjoyable online. In comparison I think Orange Box and Team Fortress is a complete anticlimax compared to CoD4.

Lucky for me that I enjoy it. Too bad for you that you don´t, but you can always trade it in for a game that suits you better. Good luck.

It is short, but for me it was more than long enough. Games longer than this usually never gets played to the end for mine part because I loose interest underways.

I'll give it to ya, it is intense without a doubt. Graphics however, were skin deep. Graphics is a broad term, the game had high texture detail is some areas, but character models, faces, and details were off. There is a complete lack of destructible environments. So when there is no destructible environments, the only physics are movements from characters. That really is quite easy to do and doesnt take much to perfect it. But whatever, I'm more into pc games, so that tends to make a person more picky.

But seriously, you must play bioshock and/or crysis. Those are the two best shooters on the market.

This happens, there are games that everyone else but you seem to love, we're all different, its ok. I personally liked it but the campaign is nothing compared to the mutliplayer. But the reason there's like no foliage is because its set mainly in urban enviroments, where most moder warfare is set, although id like to see a sequal set in vietnam, now that could be intense.

I agree, MP to me looks average and I have played it online (Only for around 5 hours though). No game since BF2 has been as good as that used to be online.

This and Halo 3 are completely overrated for the 360, and are praised way too much considering how much bad press Bioshock gets from so many people, same with Crysis.

From what I've been hearing from a friend (and seems to tell me alot on steam) the Campaign is an aboslute blast, even though it's short.

And he enjoys replaying through the levels as well.

The game in fact should have 2 seperate scores. One for multi and one for singleplayer.

The singleplayer game while being awesome in its own right should score no more than 7.0 due to being ridiculously short. The multi though is addictive and well done imo. This averages the score of the 2 components to about an 8.0-8.5 Roughly a little below where it is.

Overrated is an overrated word. I actually agree on many of your points but the fact lots of people love CoD4 remains. Just let it go and play games that you think are better.

Oh, come on, there's always threads like that. If it's not COD4, it's Bioshock, or Halo 3, or Assassin's Creed, or Crysis. Every well-liked game gets this.

The fact that you just called the COD4 multiplayer "Rainbow 6: Lockdown with better graphics" pretty much invalidates anything else you have to say about this game. Ever.

The pattern for this type of nonsense is always the same as well:

Troll needs attention, bashes quality game, counters his weak position with outlandish criticisms.

YAWN, YAWN, and YAWN some more.
