Going back to COD roots. Funny that Battlefield also did this. Its been a while since we had a COD that wasn't modern/future.

Interesting. While I prefer the more modern and futuristic games I do still very much enjoy the Call of Duty franchise so I'll definitely give this game a chance.

I might give it a shot, but COD gameplay has mostly gotten stale to me. Hopefully they add tanks or something interesting.

Yeah same... I'm sure they'll copy BF1 as much as possible.

And this time, it better be about Vietnam cause I don't wanna go back to WW2 just yet, now that we are seeing current-gen consoles can now do Jungle settings really well (if only) we can do Vietnam justice.

Not sure what you mean since Vietnam wasn't involved in WWII...

I wouldn't mind if was the same format as World at War in that it switches back and forth between battles in the Pacific and in Europe. Some more focus on characters would be cool, maybe even talking protagonists, but at the very least I expect some awesome levels. I wasn't sure if WWII would ever really be properly revisited. Nor was I sure that I'd ever be excited for a Call of Duty game again.

I think we're all fed up from those flying robots and laser guns and superpowers etc...Battlefield 1 success has prove it.

I think the new call of duty should cover campaigns or battles not covered in World at War.

And what do you think about making a world war 1 call of duty game? In order to compete with Battlefield 1

It looks like Battlefield 1 may have actually outsold Infinite Warfare, but only barely. And it's easily been the poorest selling Call of Duty in a while. So I think this "new" setting will have more people interested, especially since a considerable amount of people seem to want it.

They might even have a level where you fly in a Lancaster bomber and drop bombs on Dresden and watch it burn. There would definitely be an achievement for killing the most women and children with a single bomb. All fans of COD are already drooling to join the ranks of the good guys and lovingly take charge of the bomb bay.

And the next level teleports you east and has you wearing the uniform of a NKVD officer. Your task is a pleasant chore: machine gun leftovers of Soviet units running back towards their positions after a failed charge. An achievement or two for headshots and bodies cut in half. Next bayoneting or shooting POWs in the back of the head inside a cellar. An achievement for shooting more than 100 within 1 minute and not missing once. Your next mission has you abducting pretty Russian girls from the streets of Moscow and delivering them to Stalin so he can rape and murder them. An achievement for grabbing at least 20 before sunrise.

Another level sees you in charge of the Soviet S-13 submarine and firing torpedoes at "MV Wilhelm Gustloff" and "General von Steuben". The achievements here will be for sinking the ships with 4 or less torpedoes and killing at least 1,000 children with each.

One thing's for sure: Activision will outdo themselves this time and all fans of COD are drooling and can't wait to start killing.

I haven't played a CoD in years. The first (back when it was called Medal of Honor) is still the one I hold fondest memories of. The Normandy landing would be great to revisit with improved presentation, and it'd be great if they tried to introduce a bit of humanity into the combat.

I'm not sure, but I think...maybe Chris is not a fan of games based on war.

Also, he owns a very high horse

@f1r3starter: I'm not a fan of wars, no doubt about that. But games about war can be a good tool for showing that war is hell, so they do serve a purpose. If done right. If.

Let's not worry about horses. What matters is that Activision has goodies in store for all COD fans. It will hardly be a surprise if the final levels in the game have you kissing the Fat Man before you drop it on Nagasaki and participating in the mass rape and killing of 2 million German women to tunes played on a balalaika. Activision will deliver plenty of good killing to COD fans as they had before. All you have to do is pull the trigger and enjoy yourself. Activision will take care of the rest.

Looks like COD is going to do a BF one, just not quite all the way back.

But at least they are not going crazy and making another space COD.

@ChrisAnetkaC: Forgot about all the crazy shit from Nanking and how they should let you play the role of a Japanese officer in the contest to see who can be the first to chop off 100 heads.

I wonder if 12 year old gamers will stop playing cod after this... Anyways, it's nice to see cod going back to its roots, but we all know they decided to do this because BFOne beat the crap outta COD:IW.

The only way Activision would let you do that is if those were the good guys doing the chopping. Like Soviets torturing and murdering POWs in Auschwitz. Then it'd be alright. Somehow, however, I still think that children burning alive in the 1,470 °F inferno in Dresden and Hamburg, or 10 year olds getting raped by 30 Soviet soldiers and then cut to pieces with knives is more dramatic than the crazy indeed 100 head contest.
