true and untrue facts about violent games

violent games don't courpt minds of kids. its a safe way to take out your anger. on you tube i heard some women say "instead of safely taking out their anger in contact sports they do it in video games". She's almost saying it isn't safe to shoot a pixelized character with no emotion that dosen't feel real pain and don't even have a soul, but it is safe to tackle someone and punch them in the faceuntil they cry cause theyfeel real pain and emotion and they have a soul. does that make real sense to you? The ESRB shouldn't ban manhunt. It's not that hard to not play it if you don't like violence. And don't be like " my kid plays to much of this game". Maybe they'd play it less if you said something. Don't make them stop playing, or they'll get ultra pissed, just makethem play it less.

I think the ESRB is a great resource, and should be taken into heavy consideration when parents have kids that play video games. No, I don't think that kids are going to grow up wanted to kill people, with violent tendencies, and bad attitudes just because they play violent video games. It's the whole parenting package put together. However, I don't think that parents should be letting 10 year olds playing M rated games. It's still part of the package. I think kids shouldn't make video games their only recreational activity, however I don't see a problem with young children playing appropriate video games either. To me, it's all about balance. Like everything their kids do, I think parents should be involved in what their kids are playing. Parents need to provide guidance (not demands), and ensure their kids know the different between video games, and real life. That games are fun because their fantasy; an escape from real life, and not a reflection of it.

Sims 2??? I remember doing screwed-up things to characters from Mario games. I remember getting Mario to the highest point on a particular level, and then trying to do a running jump across the screen just to see how far I could go. Sometimes I'd land in a pit, lave, a flying hammer, etc.

What do you have against contact sports? My son will play videogames and sports when he grows up. I think both can be beneficial to children.

I think that the parents need to be the judge of whether or not video games are safe for their kids. There are rating for a reason. Little kids have fragile minds that are open to believe anything which is why you can't play games where you kill people until your a teen and know the difference between right and wrong. Many kids however bypass the ratings and play the games anyways which is where the parents need to step in. It's not the video game worlds fault about what the gamers play, it's the parents fault.

I know that when I was younger I played any game that they released. My parents took no interest really. Even when they saw me fragging people and killing zombies etc, they just didnt mind.

Fortunately I turned out ok (LOL)

Safe way to take out anger? Get a punching bag.

Playing a game while angry will most likely lead to more frustration. When you are angry, you can't think as well, so seemingly normal games seem harder to focus upon. You get frustrated and soon you're throwing controllers around.

Some say they play games to relax them. I think not. With more and more games that require hours of playing, critical decisions, elitism, it's anything but relaxing.

It's an intense experience that should be played with a clear mind, not a clouded one. If you want to cool off, go eat some food, watch TV, sleep, etc.
