Can you recommend me some NES games?

Well, having no past experiences with the NES (Sega was in my childhood), i decided to pick up a NES console (alone) from the bay for £12, already have the controllers and PSU. So can you recommend me some games for it please? It's just sitting there screaming "PLAY ME!" :P

Alrighty, thanks for giving me some ideas on what to try out.

I'll definitely give Contra a try, kinda like Metal Slug. I'll see what kage offers me aswell.

I would recommend Sky Shark, Kung Fu, and Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers.

I can't believe that nobody suggested Kirby's Adventure. That game is amazing.

If you have the light gun, get Duck Hunt and Gunshoe. The second's a little less known, but it's well worth the effort digging up.

Both great multi-player sports games.
