Can't afford gaming anymore. What are some solutions?

Well we did it. My wife and I finally have our own place. It's glorious...except now my money goes to being an adult and videogames are very pricey all of a sudden. Are there apps for finding good deals on videogames? I have an X1, Wii U, and a nice PC set up. So as far as cheap PC games I should be fine but what about for console? I'm somewhat screwed with Wii U since Ninty hardly ever has their first party titles on sale.....How will I squirt ink at random people? So yeah what are some options?

Don't know if this is a setup for a ban , but...loan from friends , used games , trade games , stop console gaming all together.

i have yet to get the new consoles , and i don't have a good PC , so i just retro game.

My friend, anyone can afford gaming. It really just depends on your patience and how much you are willing to save. I have low income. My fulltime job gives me roughly $710 biweekly and with bills, food and public transportation to get to work and back home, that money just flies right out the window. I'm saving up for a PS4 and I probably won't have it until November or even December. I'm going to have to fight for it since it will be holiday season when I am ready to buy it.

Maybe try going, Handheld this time around like 3DS/PC? Handhelds such as a 3DS offers more value then Wii U in my opinion. PC get's you more then the current consoles offers but in the end, we all have to make sacrifices but keep you're PC at all times.

Since Microsoft has decided to implement backwards compatibility into the Xbox One's set of features, you should invest in some Xbox 36O video games and play them on your Xbox One to save money.

Maybe do what I do, and stick with one system... Sell the rest and buy some games on your "main" system.

Well, as you have embarked on the journey to adulthood, it might be time to simply sell off all of those consoles and put the money towards games from Steam, GoG, and Humble Bundle.

Quite honestly since you already have a decent pc stick to that and imo sell your consoles if you cant afford them. Do what i do and buy games when are on 70-80% off on Steam,humble bundle,gmg gaming

I'm an adult, homeowner, work a full-time job and have additional responsibilties and hobbies, so I can identify with you. Gaming can be as affordable or as expensive as you want it to be.

You don't have to buy every game on day1! Between online daily deals and holiday sales, you can get new released games at decent bargain prices! And you got ligit people on ebay that sell new games a discounted prices as well.

You just have to be a smart consumer.

Gamefly. Allows you to play nearly an unlimited amount of games for a pretty cheap price that pays for itself in literally a single game, since a new game goes for about $60 new here in the States... and you can recieve and play numerous game per month. It will save you tons of money.

Yeah some good advice already mentioned. I agree that selling consoles and investing in just one makes a lot of sense if you are limited on money.

Also , if you're not absoutely dead set on being able to play the latest and greatest, and missed out on a lot of games from previous gens, then I advise you to invest in older consoles. They're way cheaper, and most importantly their games are dirt dirt cheap compared to current gen games . Heck I still get so much use out of my ps2 simply b/c I can pick up games for it on average less than $20 and often less than $10 a pop based on where you get them from.

The only hobby cheaper than video games is reading.

Or getting a gaming PC (few years old is fine) and buying 2-3 year old games on for $1-5 on Steam during sales.

the solution is simple.

lose the wife, downsize to a smaller house/apartment ( have a smaller mortage as a result)....get more games. remember you dont have to eat every day either.

seriosuly though raid the online stores on those consoles...they have quite a few lower priced games that can still be great. steam like sales are also becoming more of a thing on consoles so, for any game you are not bounching off the walls over, hold off on the purchase.

nintendo are a bit of a mare on this one so, oddly enough, it might be better to buy day 1 for those games and, unless you think its really a keeper, trade it back in pretty quickly for a better return. if you didnt have a wii then im sure there are also plenty of wii games going to a lot less now that could be of interest.

I'm a property owner and can only recommend doing what's best for you and your partner first and foremost.

However, gaming can be as cheap as buying a pack of soda if you're willing to look. Sure, you won't get Fallout 4 this Winter but with your financial ordeal best to look into an older format range. You maybe suprised how cheap it is, and how good the games are :)

Trade on Craigslist. Has worked great for me. I bought a game for $30, played it, and then ended up trading to the point of playing about 5 fairly new games. Then on my last trade I traded for a game with the highest trade in value at Bestbuy, and got $30 for my trade in. 5 game for basically free.

Well, if you have a decent PC there are a ton of F2P games at your disposal. Also, Steam sales are great. I tend to not purchase a game until they are like $7 on a sale, even if that takes years. It doesn't bother me since I save some money in the long run.

Stop gaming and get one of those roll playing books or board games :p
