Let me start by saying that there is a special circle of hell reserved for those that cheat, hack, exploit, etc. in any multiplayer game. That said, I'm just curious how many of you out there prolong the life of your game by screwing with your games to have some more fun after you've finished their normal life span. Personally, I won't use them until I've gotten bored of the game in question, and I'm just looking to have some more pointless fun before the game gets deleted. For example, and this one's going way back, those of you who modded the RA2.exe file in Red Alert 2 to change the unit values, or maybe use hex editors or programs like 'poke' to give yourself extra money or resources, or just codes that may have originally been programed into the game. For instance in my case, I must have gotten an extra few hundred hours out of Civilization 5 after I got bored of the scenarios just by using the SDK and making a map where my start point has all the strategic and luxury resources and was fairly isolated from the rest of the map. Then once I had gained a substantial lead over all of the AI, basically control the world as I see fit. Another one is in Shogun 2, once I had beaten the campaign several times with a few different provices, I used a program called 'Poke' to essentially make sure I always had a large wad of cash to blow.

The only time I EVER cheat is if I am stuck somehow, and cannot get out, or if the level I am on I screwed up by accident, and is therefore impossible to beat.

When beating the game, hell no, cheating is lame, but when the game is done, cheats can be great fun. Remember Goldeneye with its dozens of fun cheats? Too bad not many games do it anymore. CoD4 and Uncharted 2 are the only ones I can think of.

Not really cheating per se. But, I'm playing Crysis 3 with no HUD, no enemy tracking, no ammo counter. Pretty hard and slow progress. I love it.

Cheats are fun, after I beat a game. If I liked it enough, I'll look up cheats and go back through it with cheats for fun. GTA 4 for example. But I never use them before I beat the game. That's just stupid, and ruining the game. IMO.

I never cheat if it means affecting someone else. People who cheat in multiplayer are pathetic and likely crap at the game. I don't cheat in single player now either. Used to with some PS2 games like GTA: San Andreas but otherwise have no need to.

I don't play multiplayer; however, I don't find anything inherently wrong with cheating in Single Player games if that's what you get enjoyment out of doing. I remember I used cheats the entire last half of the story during GTA IV just because the story was such a chore to get through.

Yeah. More games need to have them, just for the silly factor. In San Andreas, you could alter the wardrobe of the whole population, have bicycles bunny-hopping 150 feet in the air, and flying cars, totally making planes irrelevant. Just watch out for the landing.

I used to love cheats. You could explore things you never could before or just have fun. GTA, Age of Empires, some games I loved cheating with and it increased the game lifespan 3-6 times for me. Metal Gear Solid with a trainer was incredible because you could explore area's that deviated from the storyline and mess everything up. I miss cheats.

I don't cheat in games. Unless it's San Andreas. That's fun.
