Unfortunately, you're going to have a difficult time finding games for any of those systems in retail these days. Granted, you might find a mom and pop shop in your local area that will carry the stuff, but most high end retailers do not. Gamestop owns Funcoland now and GS has removed those games from shelves just about 2 years ago.
Word has it that if you can find a Game Crazy store around you, they carry old school games. I know it's a pain in the butt, but your best bet at this point is just hit up Ebay... they have anything you could really want on there.
Are there any game stores around that sell games for NES, SNES, and PS1? I remember Funcoland used to sell old games. It was pretty cool to be able to go in there and pick up an old classic NES game.woogity
The game store I go to buys and sells anything. But it's an independent store. I don't think any of the big chains sell old games anymore. GameCrazy did until recently, but the last couple times I was there I didn't see any. Your best bets are to look for independent stores or buy online.
check out those dingier looking places that sell comic books, Magic cards and hold D & D tournaments. (not the big chain stores, but the one's that are full of sunlight deprived nerds)
i've found that in several of the towns i've lived in that they are the one's who tend to have that kind of stuff.
there was one when i was living in British Columbia that was phenomenal. practically every game you could want for all of those old systems. even occassional Atari games. they were called Mostly Music... but ironically sold mostly video games and trading cards. and very little music.

Store- depend where you live. I just know two video game stores in New York City.

I agree, eStarland seems to be the place for old school games and systems. Of course I wouldn't have heard about it if NYC hadn't told me about it.

I didn't know about that place either. I'll have to start checking it out when I can't find something.
My vote still goes to half.com, I don't know why it doesn't get more hype. I literally got a bunch of xbox & ps2 games there for under a dollar each, and shipping is cheaper than most places. It's run by ebay, but it's not auction style, it's strictly "buy now" style.
I spent weeks looking for a local shop that still carried old school games, and just found one recently. It's a regional chain, and carries some okay titles. But, if you're really looking for old-school games, I would recommend ebay/amazon. I've found a plethora of great titles on amazon for affordable prices (ogre battle for 30 bucks sound good?).

J&L Trading Store locates at Elizabeth Street. Video Game New York locates at East 6th Street. It is using same name Multimedia No 1 at St Mark Place. Video Game New York has largest numbers games of Atari to this generation than J&L has only 16 bits to this generation.
