Are there any game stores around that sell games for NES, SNES, and PS1? I remember Funcoland used to sell old games. It was pretty cool to be able to go in there and pick up an old classic NES game.

Unfortunately, you're going to have a difficult time finding games for any of those systems in retail these days. Granted, you might find a mom and pop shop in your local area that will carry the stuff, but most high end retailers do not. Gamestop owns Funcoland now and GS has removed those games from shelves just about 2 years ago.

Word has it that if you can find a Game Crazy store around you, they carry old school games. I know it's a pain in the butt, but your best bet at this point is just hit up Ebay... they have anything you could really want on there.

The game store I go to buys and sells anything. But it's an independent store. I don't think any of the big chains sell old games anymore. GameCrazy did until recently, but the last couple times I was there I didn't see any. Your best bets are to look for independent stores or buy online.

Amazon has a lot of cheap snes and nes games that are dirt cheap. I hate ebay because you cannot always get a reasonable price for the game. I went to game crazy down in atlanta and I found secret of mana I was so happy I was jumping for joy.

I recommend half.com, because you can find games dirt cheap, and if you buy multiple games from the same seller you get discounted shipping, you don't have to pay full price for each item. That's the one thing I really don't like about Amazon.

check out those dingier looking places that sell comic books, Magic cards and hold D & D tournaments. (not the big chain stores, but the one's that are full of sunlight deprived nerds)

i've found that in several of the towns i've lived in that they are the one's who tend to have that kind of stuff.

there was one when i was living in British Columbia that was phenomenal. practically every game you could want for all of those old systems. even occassional Atari games. they were called Mostly Music... but ironically sold mostly video games and trading cards. and very little music.

The big name retailers don't carry the old stuff, but the little mom & pop/independents sure might. I usually satisfy my old school cravings online. Amazon and EBay are the ones I use most often, but pretty much any site that involves used stuff will work too. Google is your best friend for locating the deals.

I have a store somewhat close to me in the mall called Play N Trade that sells classic games and systems. Amiga, SNES, NES, Turbo Gfx, Game Gear, etc. They have some imports too. They have about 8 different systems set up to play in the store. Probably my favorite store. They also sell this and last generation videogames

i second that ... i just replaced need for speed 3 using ebay, also you could check , pawn shops they carry anything ,, new old used etc ,, some also have very good deals i know the one i go to since i found it, sells nes snes genesis for 3 dollars unless marked same for atari 2600 games,, ps1 dc saturn and n64 - 6 dollars unless marked, thats what my pawn does, other pawns can be expensive depends where you live and the owner of that pawn , i know one in boise thats expensive i refuse to go there unless its a last resort, 30 dollars for a snes game is ripoff , espcally one so boring like madden 93 . god but ya look at pawn shops, ,. yard sells if not you must use amazon or ebay, those are your only choice unless you have a gamescape in your area ,, they sold snes nes etc before they closed their store where i m at, as for eb games and gamestop the last time i seen a snes game was 2005 , before we moved , and i dont think they have any more the furthest they go is ps2 xbox gc era no other system maybe even dc ,, im not sure

Yeah online's okay if you know what you're looking for. It would be cool to have someplace to just browse through old games. Maybe I'll have to try a pawn shop one of these days.

I agree, eStarland seems to be the place for old school games and systems. Of course I wouldn't have heard about it if NYC hadn't told me about it.

I didn't know about that place either. I'll have to start checking it out when I can't find something.

My vote still goes to half.com, I don't know why it doesn't get more hype. I literally got a bunch of xbox & ps2 games there for under a dollar each, and shipping is cheaper than most places. It's run by ebay, but it's not auction style, it's strictly "buy now" style.

There is this chain where I live that always has a huge stock of ps1, snes, nes, dreamcast, and anything else you can think of. I got ff7 there awhile ago..

Just check out pawn shops, I know it's a huge pain but it's worth it

I spent weeks looking for a local shop that still carried old school games, and just found one recently. It's a regional chain, and carries some okay titles. But, if you're really looking for old-school games, I would recommend ebay/amazon. I've found a plethora of great titles on amazon for affordable prices (ogre battle for 30 bucks sound good?).

cheers

J&L Trading Store locates at Elizabeth Street. Video Game New York locates at East 6th Street. It is using same name Multimedia No 1 at St Mark Place. Video Game New York has largest numbers games of Atari to this generation than J&L has only 16 bits to this generation.
