I honestly feel like people don't know how to develop good 2D platformers anymore. It's almost like a lost art, imo. I will say that, from what I played of it, the Resident Evil remake for the gamecube seemed pretty good. The new Donkey Kong Country like it might be great.
I know it isn't "legacy", but I love what MM is doing with Little Big Planet. It would be really REALLY awesome if a company like Nintendo made a download that allowed users to create levels for a game such as Super Mario World. It seems perfectly feasible, and I'm willing to bet that some user created levels would be better than a lot of the 2D games coming out these days.
My favorite game ever is Super Mario Bros. 3. Im not ashamed to admit I prefer the remake (Allstar or GBA).
Not to sound shallow or anything but the improved graphics bring more of Mario's style out. Everything is detailed enough to show off his cartoon-ish world. Plus the GBA is portable, which is another added plus. Not to mention the e-Reader extras (despite what a failure it was :P )

Mega Man 9 and 10...? I'd say Mega Man 10 is the best game that has been released this year so far :) Yes, even better than Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2 and so on imo. I haven't played Super Mario Galaxy 2 yet though...
Depends on the game. Turtles in Time Reshelled is a terrible, terrible game. However Rocket Knight is pretty good. I don't mind remakes so long as publishers/developers don't devote too much time and resources to them. Remakes can be nice but not if they take away from the quality of new games.Eikichi-Onizuka
Amen to that. Even buying that game on sale felt like a rip off.

I like that the remakes have a save feature.
Originals as I see no point in remaking a game that is already good and fine the way it is. The better option would be to port it to a new medium which is just what most remakes are anyway.
I'd prefer remakes of 16-bit and 2.5D RPGs for sure. Finally got to play Star Ocean 2 for the first time on the PSP and it sparked an interest which lead me to beat every main game in the series soon after (SO1 also being on the PSP). Other than that I'd say the MSX's Metal Gears desperatebly need a remake. Wouldn't be surprised if Kojima has it in mind already, he'd make huge profits out of it financially, so why not?
