I was just wondering if anyone here actually "collects" video games.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I have all the games I have bought or received in hardware purchases over the years, maybe close to 60 games over 11 years.
I play all the video games I get, I rarely sell video games, I've collected a lot over the years, and I don't play a lot of them anymore. But I keep them just in case I want to play them again someday.
But I don't collect video games just to say that I have them like a typical "collector."
I'm not a collector in the sense that I'm trying to collect every title for a certain system, or trying to collect the rarest games deliberately. I buy games that are worth buying, and if they end up sucking then I sell them. Since there are a lot of good games out there I have quite a few.
I'm not sure if this falls under your description, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
I'm a stickler for sequels and follow-up content. Once I play a game and like it, I will buy every DLC, expansion pack, sequel and prequel to that game that I can lay my hands on at first sight, regardless of critical response or consumer sentiment. Collector's and Limited editions also fall under this, and so do merchandise like toys, soundtracks, statues, comics, novels, keychains and even stationery.
Does that meet your criteria?
