Sure, I love to collect games, though its a slow process. I don't have a huge collection on any system either, but I do have a handful of different systems.
SNES, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, 32x, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS2, PS1, PS3, Wii, Gameboy, etc.
It's deffinatly fun to collect the stuff. Especially the hunt of trying to find a good deal.
collecting owns, it's my favourite hobby.
Recently, I've put my Gamecube game collecting on hold for a bit as I just got a Sega Dreamcast and am only beginning to explore the of games on the console. Just bought Shenmue, Seaman and Demolition Racer off Ebay, and can't wait to get them!
yeah i guess you can say i've turned my gaming into collecting.
I have a N64, Ps1, Ps2, GC, Wii, XB360, and a Dreamcast. Some classic games for each system ie: sonic adv.(DC), 007 (N64) RE2 (Ps1).
And i'm currently searching for new games so yeah i've turned into a collector but i collect lots of things: comics, toys, baseball cards, movies, music, not just games, but they've become the newest hobby
If I don't want to play it again I'll sell or trade it, especially if it's worth money.
With a few exceptions, you lose money on saving games, and the most they do is double in value. It's better to invest it anywhere else and it's not like you can't find the games you want from the past. Pretty soon you'll be able to download and play anything from the past through XBLA, Gametap, Steam or some other place.
I'm a collector too. I have 194 games, and will be picking up 2 more in a couple of hours.
The games in my collection that I'm proudest to have are; Toejam & Earl (GEN), Chrono Trigger (SNES), Arcana (SNES), Xenogears (PS1 - black label), Castlevania: SOTN (PS1 - black label), Skies Of Arcadia (DC), and Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance (GC).

I used to sell games, but now I want to own them and save them, amass a large collection. Owning it on XBLA or VC just isn't the same as having it in hard copy, at least for those into the collectors skim.

I agree. Being able to get some old games on XBLA, PSN, or VC is nice, but I would much rather have the hard copy.
A year ago when I bought 2 brand new PS1's I'd bought them for a few games like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis and Silent Hill, but I started buying more and more and I took pride in the games I had managed to get. I ended up buying over 80 and then I stopped because I was starting to spend money on mediocre games that I just bought to increase the longevity of my system, which was good and bad in a way. Good for the obvious and bad because if I didn't stop buying games I would've kept going and I started to get obsessed by it. The game I take most pride in is Sient Hill because it's so rare to find in the UK and it's a pure classic for the Sony PlayStation.
I have now stopped buying preowned PS1 games and sometimes when I look at it all I don't take pride in it because I think, do I really want to play these games, am I wasting my life playing these old games. Sometimes I look at it and take pride that I have it and that I'm content with these games and I'm saving money that would otherwise be spend on a 360 or some other current-gen console or DS or something, so I'm glad at that.
I am in the process of creating my own personal ultimate game collection spanning across NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, Saturn, N64, Dreamcast, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, PSP, Game Gear, PS2, GC, Xbox, PS3, Wii, 360.
I just bought a 2nd Dreamcast to make sure my recently beefed up collection can be played if one of my others breakskrunkfu2
That's why I bought two PS1's. I actually have three now because I bought memory cards from a person in the paper and they came with games and another PS1. All I wanted was the memory cards but I had to take the lot. I'm not complaining though, more games for my collection and another backup console all for very little. Now I have 3 PS1's, 5 official controllers, 5 memory cards, 3 official composite cables and over 80 games.
