Anyone here like to collect games?
I've recently gotten into a collector state. I mostly collect SNES games, but I have bought a few GB titles.
I don't have many games, but I have managed to get my hands on a few great titles recently:
Megaman X
Link to the Past
Final Fantasy II (IV)
Final fantasy III (VI)
Doom
Kirby Super Star
Yoshi's Island (just ordered it online, should be here within a week :))

I also own Super Mario World, Super Mario All-STars, and Donkey Kong Country 2 from back in the day.
With any luck I may be able to get Super Mario RPG too, borrowed it from my godfather, and hoping he'll sell (he's never even bothered to play it).

Still looking to find Megaman X2 and 3, and also Megaman 7, as well as afew other titles.

So, am I the only one who's become a collector? OR is there anyone else out there with the same passion?
If so, and even if you don't, have any rare games you're proud to have?

Sure, I love to collect games, though its a slow process. I don't have a huge collection on any system either, but I do have a handful of different systems.
SNES, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, 32x, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS2, PS1, PS3, Wii, Gameboy, etc.

It's deffinatly fun to collect the stuff. Especially the hunt of trying to find a good deal.

Im also in the collecting stage. Its mostly PS1 and PS2 games. I have around 90 PS2 games and I plan on getting more in the future. I currently have around 30 PS1 games. Its hard to get older games these days, unless you go on the internet. But I dont like shopping on the internet.

collecting owns, it's my favourite hobby.

Recently, I've put my Gamecube game collecting on hold for a bit as I just got a Sega Dreamcast and am only beginning to explore the of games on the console. Just bought Shenmue, Seaman and Demolition Racer off Ebay, and can't wait to get them!

I have about 300+ games that I own, unfortunately most of my old SNES/N64 boxes are gone. My best finds were a mint condition copy of FF7 for $10, Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for $8, and MGS2(sealed) for $5.

Dont really collect, but I do have a bunch I bought when I was a kid. I guess I was surprised to find that the copy of Suikoden 2 I bought new for $30 is going for like a $100 now.

I have a fairly nice collection of both consoles and computers. I have countless thousands of titles that I've been collecting since the 70's. It takes up my attic, one rental storage unit, a couple of closets, and a storage shed out back. I need more room and more money. ^_^

yeah i guess you can say i've turned my gaming into collecting.

I have a N64, Ps1, Ps2, GC, Wii, XB360, and a Dreamcast. Some classic games for each system ie: sonic adv.(DC), 007 (N64) RE2 (Ps1).

And i'm currently searching for new games so yeah i've turned into a collector but i collect lots of things: comics, toys, baseball cards, movies, music, not just games, but they've become the newest hobby

I used to be really into having the biggest game collection but somehow I got out of it. At the time I had like 250+ games but now somehow it's down to about 200 (people borrow stuff, I lose stuff, stuff breaks). I just recently got back into it though. My goals are to have every U.S. Dreamcast game (almost 1/3 the way there), at least 50 Saturn games (stilly like 30 some to go), and 350 total games. Once I reach that, I'll decide whether it's been worth it. I'm sure if I don't think it is, I'll still buy games, just at a slower pace, and probably fewer classic games and more modern ones.

I just started collecting NES games about 6 months ago... I have about 70 games right now and most of them are pretty good games... I just bloged my list of games. My favorite parts of my collection are all three lolo games, mario is missing NES, the first three turtles games (I still need tournament fighters), three of the wisdom tree games (bible adventures, king of kings, and spirtual warfare).... and then there are just the games that I love to play... like the three mario games, contra, mike tyson's punchout, the two gauntlet games and smash TV.

If I don't want to play it again I'll sell or trade it, especially if it's worth money.

With a few exceptions, you lose money on saving games, and the most they do is double in value. It's better to invest it anywhere else and it's not like you can't find the games you want from the past. Pretty soon you'll be able to download and play anything from the past through XBLA, Gametap, Steam or some other place.

I'm a collector too. I have 194 games, and will be picking up 2 more in a couple of hours.

The games in my collection that I'm proudest to have are; Toejam & Earl (GEN), Chrono Trigger (SNES), Arcana (SNES), Xenogears (PS1 - black label), Castlevania: SOTN (PS1 - black label), Skies Of Arcadia (DC), and Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance (GC).

I used to sell games, but now I want to own them and save them, amass a large collection. Owning it on XBLA or VC just isn't the same as having it in hard copy, at least for those into the collectors skim.

I agree. Being able to get some old games on XBLA, PSN, or VC is nice, but I would much rather have the hard copy.

I'm "kind of" a collector. In my lifetime I've had 600 games for my systems over the years. However I am prone to selling the systems and games. I always like to build a library of games for a system. Minimum 30 games for a system. I don't hang on them forever. Wish I did hang on the some of the games though.

A year ago when I bought 2 brand new PS1's I'd bought them for a few games like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis and Silent Hill, but I started buying more and more and I took pride in the games I had managed to get. I ended up buying over 80 and then I stopped because I was starting to spend money on mediocre games that I just bought to increase the longevity of my system, which was good and bad in a way. Good for the obvious and bad because if I didn't stop buying games I would've kept going and I started to get obsessed by it. The game I take most pride in is Sient Hill because it's so rare to find in the UK and it's a pure classic for the Sony PlayStation.

I have now stopped buying preowned PS1 games and sometimes when I look at it all I don't take pride in it because I think, do I really want to play these games, am I wasting my life playing these old games. Sometimes I look at it and take pride that I have it and that I'm content with these games and I'm saving money that would otherwise be spend on a 360 or some other current-gen console or DS or something, so I'm glad at that.

Collecting is fun. I have 200+ games right now, and all but 2 are complete with boxes, manuals, paperwork, etc., so I am proud of that. My only problem is finding the time to play the games. I work, I'm prepping for grad school. my gf requires some time....so it's rough to get gaming time in. I got to beat GTA4 in the two weeks between the Spring Semester and the Summer Session for classes, but now I've got no time, which sucks becuase MGS4 comes out next week, and I am a huge fan of Metal Gear. Odds are I won't open it until August, but you can bet the collector in me will have it on day one.

I have close to 300 games. I have most of my collecton listed on ign.com. I don't really collect games I just buy the games I like to play. I recently bought chrono trigger, FF3, Mario RPG, and Megaman X not just to collect but to play. I did buy a complete Link to Past for $5 from my local video store. Everything is practically mint.

Collecting games has been a hobby of mine for many years, I still have all the games I owned when I was a kid, spanning back to the early NES days! That is probably why my goal is to own every US NES game ever made! I currently sit at 987 games, 327 of which are NES! For everybody that has posted here that is a collector, or wants to start a collection, join the CCU (candid collectors union!) If you have at least 500 games and can provide a picture, you can get on the leaderboard list for Gamespot! It is a great place to visit if you are interested in the hobby! 8)

I bought Killer Instinct for N64 and it didn't work, someone had messed with it's outer shell. The game wouldn't go all the way down into the N64, so for about an half hour or so I thought I had broken copy of "possibly" the most under appreciated 2d fighter to date. Then I decided to "literally" braking the outer shell carefully and try my luck. It's not as bad as it sounds, "but back on subject", I put the game back into the system and, "BAM" it worked. But now I've taken my "collecting" to a different level. I'm looking into buying more "recent games" that I believe will become collectors editions down the line. I've learned my lesson from when I had Resident Evil 4 (and a Platinum Gamcube) for Gamecube and sold it, I know it's not worth much and other versions have more features but any true Resident Evil fan will tell you that the "Gamecube version" is the one to own.

That's why I bought two PS1's. I actually have three now because I bought memory cards from a person in the paper and they came with games and another PS1. All I wanted was the memory cards but I had to take the lot. I'm not complaining though, more games for my collection and another backup console all for very little. Now I have 3 PS1's, 5 official controllers, 5 memory cards, 3 official composite cables and over 80 games.
