I was thinking of buying an old Comodore 64 for gaming only. I was wondering what I need to buy for gaming. I think I need the computer, joystick, and and floppy drive.

You don't need the floppy drive, there are many many games on cartridges, and the load times on some of the diskettes can be horrendous.

Well i would definatly not say there were all that many games released on cartridges for the C64, probably the least supported of the media types of it as they were more expensive to produce compared to the other two, there is a far wider choice on floppy and diskette, so i would recommend both of them not just one as some games only came out on one, also two joysticks and obviously the system, it depends what sort of games you like there is so much on it, and can be hard to pick just a handful.

games on cartridge only appeared early on in the life of the c64. stay away from tapes as even when new they had load errors. in fact what are the chances of 5.25" discs still working????
