I am concerned that COD WW2 is not going to be horrific enough. It would be really cool if the battles were gruesome and stomach turning as Hacksaw ridge or Saving private ryan. Do you think it would be good if there was a level where you liberate a concentration camp. Or would that be crossing the line

No, game are not see as art enough by most people to be allowed anything like that.

That said this is a game and it would be for it own good to focus on it. A concentration camp could be a problem where the player just want that cut scene to end and he/she can continue to play the game. The worse thing they can do is have a cut scene where you walk around a concentration camp. It does not matter if you have control over the character. For the player he/she will just get bored and want the cut scene to end.

Cod has shown that they can show complexity instead of the lowbrow ideal of there are only horrific elements of war.

Seems like it's going for a similar level of grittiness World at War had as far as the violence and gore goes. I think it showed some examples of brutality well, namely when you're playing as the Red Army and there's a bit where a group of surrendering Germans are executed. I also think it may have showed the execution of retreating soldiers from the Red Army as well. It'll be interesting to see what this game does with the story, but I'm just excited enough about the setting.

I'd prefer they not revisit an experience akin to the "No Russian" level; it was OK at the time, but in retrospect it was a token attempt to be convey dread and horror when they did not need to.

Doing the equivalent with something like the Holocaust or non-combatant killings would be pretty terrible; it's not about being offensive, even, it's more the lack of respect and context. Hell, I even felt bad playing the older games and glorifying the D-Day invasion; the beach landings and air drops were a horrifying ordeal for thousands of young men, and many were killed and maimed and make it fun seems almost disrespectful.

With that said, I do appreciate the grittiness and realism modern games try to convey in their games, but ultimately fail to deliver. It's actually important they fail so we don't get too immersed.

I feel like COD is dying irregardless of anything they try to do. If the developers really want to make the game great again then they need to remaster every single game that they have created up until Black Ops 2 obviously. As far as the "ww2" aspect goes, I feel like it's not going to be the same as it was previously. The COD's made by Treyarch are very hard hitting, right in your face, immersive story lines and a lot of blood and gore games. Only time will tell I guess but I don't have high hopes for COD anymore
